Dayton Baseball To Head To Florida A&M• After Tuesday’s home opener was cancelled due to inclement weather, the
Flyers will hit the road once again, this time to Tallahassee, Fla. to take on the Rattlers of Florida A&M.
• Dayton sits with a 3-4 record and will look to get back to the .500 against a Rattlers team that is just 1-5 on the year.
• The Flyers will roll out with Hunter Wolfe, Ben Olson, and Cole Pletka on the mound. The trio is a combined 2-1 on the year and owns an earned run aver-age of 3.77, which is half a run lower than the pitching staff as a whole (4.27).
• There will be live stats available for all three contests in Tallahassee.
Scouting the Rattlers• Florida A&M enters this matchup with a 1-5 record, dropping five straight
contests since an opening day victory over South Florida. The Rattlers dropped two against Mercer before Eastern Illinois took all three games in Tallahassee.
• This is the second of four programs that made the 2019 NCAA Baseball Championship field after the Flyers split with UNCW during opening weekend. The Rattlers won the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship and fell to Georgia Tech and Coastal Carolina in the Atlanta Regional.
• Jared Weber has paced Florida A&M this season, leading the team with a .360 batting average through six games. He along with two other position players (Tucker Rayburn and Octavien Moyer) were selected to the 2020 Preseason All-MEAC First Team.
• Kyle Coleman is set to start Friday for Florida A&M and was selected as the lone representative of the Rattlers pitching staff for the Preseason All-Meac First Team. Out of the bullpen, Chandellor Benton, Morgan Mendez, and Jeremiah McCollum have been steady forces, allowing just three runs total in 13.1 innings.
• The Rattlers were picked to finish second in the MEAC, receiving three first-place votes in the process after finishing 22-25 overall in 2019.
Memphis Blues• Dayton left Memphis 0-3 after a tough weekend against the Tigers.• The Flyers were outscored 19-6 over three games, the final of which ended
after seven innings due to rain.• Hunter Wolfe and Ben Olson each got Dayton off to a good start during the first
two contests. The two allowed just two hits and one unearned runs combined over 11 innings on the mound.
• The Flyers also tallied just one extra base hit in three games, a Marcos Pujols home run in the final game of the series.
• On the bases the Flyers did have success, stealing four bases without being caught stealing once.

This is the first matchup between the two schools
Lone Wolfe• Senior pitcher Hunter Wolfe earned recognition after his dominant
performance on Opening Day against Bryant. The lefty went 7 innings giving up just one run on two hits and striking out 14, including the first 8 hitters he faced.
• He was named the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 17 for his efforts. It marked the second time in his Dayton tenure he has earned the honor with the other coming last February.
• Wolfe also earned national honors as Perfect Game’s Rawlings Sports Pitcher of the Week as well as being one of Collegiate Baseball’s National Players of the Week.
• Wolfe has allowed just three hits through 12 innings thus far and sits second in the Atlantic 10 with a .077 batting average against.
Winning in Wilmington• The Flyers opened the season 3-1 after taking three out of four games against
Bryant and UNCW in Wilmington, N.C.• Dayton outscored the two schools 32-16, outhitting them 42-25. On the
mound, Flyer pitchers struck out 51 hitters and held opponents to hitting .207.• The team opened the weekend with a 9-2 victory over Bryant before falling
10-9 to UNCW to end play on Friday. Dayton came back to sweep the Bulldogs on Saturday 5-3 and ended the weekend on a high note, avenging the loss to UNCW with a 9-2 victory on Sunday.
• Mariano Ricciardi led the way picking up eight hits and posting a .471 average in the first four games while Alex Brickman and Nolan Watson each homered.
• Five pitchers did not allow a run for the Flyers in the first weekend, led by Justin Longbrake, who struck out six hitters over 3.1 hittless innings..
2019 in Review• In head coach Jayson King’s second year in Dayton the Flyers greatly
improved over the year prior. The team finished with 11 more wins overall than they did in 2018 and won six more conference games.
• This led to them qualifying for its first A-10 Championship since 2014, where they took the first two games over Rhode Island and Davidson before falling to Fordham. The Flyers again defeated Davidson before falling to the Rams in 12 innings 4-3.
• Senior Hunter Wolfe became the program’s first All-Conference honoree since 2014 when he was named to the All-Conference Second Team. Wolfe led the Flyers in wins (9), strikeouts (92), and earned run average (3.70).
• Benjamin Blackwell was named to the All-Rookie Team after hitting .275 for the Flyers in his first season. The now-sophomore started 50 games for Day-ton and finished fourth on the team with 15 stolen bases.• • •
Scoping the Schedule• The Flyers will play 10 different opponents who finished above .500 for the
2019 season. VCU and Davidson are two examples of this from the Atlantic 10.• Two of these opponents make up the first four games for the Flyers as both
Bryant and UNCW finished with winning records in 2019.• There will also be four representatives from the 2019 NCAA Tournament on
the slate as UNCW, Florida A&M, Illinois, and Ohio State each made the field last year. All four were elminated after two games.

PRONUNCIATION GUIDE
Jayson King enters his third season as the head coach of Dayton Baseball in 2020. King is coming off leading Dayton Baseball to one of its most successful seasons in program history in 2019. The Flyers went 32-26-1 and advanced all the way to the championship game in the Atlantic 10 Tourna-ment. The team’s 32 wins were also the program’s most since the 2011 season.
His first full recruiting class at Dayton was ranked in the top 100 in the nation by perfect game and No. 2 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. King has significantly expanded the recruiting footprint of Dayton Baseball by bringing in players from 12 different states in the 2018 recruiting class including areas outside of the Midwest pipeline such as Texas, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts and Virginia.
King led the Flyers to the program’s most wins, both overall (21) and in conference (10), since 2014 in his first season at the helm. The Flyers also made an 85-spot jump in the RPI rankings from the 2017 season to his first season in 2018.
King was most recently the Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Army after spend-ing the previous 18 seasons as head coach at NCAA Division II Franklin Pierce. In his first season in Division I, King produced the No. 33 overall recruiting class as ranked by Perfect Game, with 24 high school commitments from 14 states.
A 1993 graduate of Framingham State College, King received a bachelor’s degree in sociology while playing four seasons for the Rams. He went on to earn his master’s degree in physical education in 1996 from Springfield College. King and his wife, Missy, have one daughter, Katie, and one son, Justin.
