When Tara Begum and her family watched floodwater swamp their farmland they were distraught. But her family was able to construct a garden that floated several feet above where they had once grown crops. The diagram shows how the garden was constructed. Tara could then grow red onions, kang kong and okra as well as pumpkin plants which could be transplanted once the floods died down. ‘Before I had no means to feed my children. Now I even have enough to sell at market – and my neighbours have now copied the idea’, Tara Begum said.
