Studying in Madrid with ERASMUS! Madrid is the capital and centre of Spain. The city is not only the European capitalwith the most cloudless days of the year but is also interesting in other ways. With about 3 million inhabitants, it is aninternational center that has a lot to offer culturally and can impress students with its nightlife. The Universidad Antoniode Nebrija is one of the 10 best universities in the country. But with only 4000 students (incl. 500 Internationals), it isrelatively large and not a massive university. Exchange students are generally flexible in theirchoice of course. For EBC students, the "Integrated Programme: Social Sciences" of interest. Students are free tochoose their courses from the areas of "Tourism", "Business Administration", "Law" and "International Relations". A totalof 5 courses are to be taken, with a total of at least 20 ECTS credits.

BewerbungsmodalitätenWe have an ERASMUS partnership with Nebrija Universidad and a certain number of exchange places per semester.You can apply for these places.The ERASMUS application procedure consists of two steps:

Step 1: Application to the EBC UniversityYou apply to us for a place at university and for the ERASMUS scholarship. Please register at the International Officeand hand in the following documents:- Letter of motivation in English (maximum one page); include up to two alternative ERASMUS partners in the lastparagraph of your cover letter, in which you would be interested if we had to cancel your first request.- Performance record of the EBC University (via the virtual campus)

The best applications will be selected from all applicants of the EBC University, it counts academic achievements,language skills and the quality of your motivation letter, in which you show that you have dealt with your desireduniversity.

We will inform the successful students by email and ask them to explicitly accept their place. If you accept the place, wewill nominate you at the partner university and only then will you apply with the regular application documents for theuniversity, see step 2.

If you have received a rejection, you will automatically be placed in the procedure for moving up to the alternativeuniversities of your choice or we will try to offer you an alternative. We will then send you an offer by email. Once youhave accepted the offer, we will nominate you with the partner and only then will you apply to this university with theappropriate documents (see step 2 below).

Step 2: Application to Nebrija UniversidadAfter the EBC University has officially nominated you at the partner university, apply there.The application procedure differs from university to university. You will find out what you need to do soon after yournomination.The host university also reserves the right to decide on admission.

Anerkennung

Learning AgreementAlong with your application, you submit a Learning Agreement (LA) on which you enter courses or modules amountingto at least 20 ECTS credits that you would like to take. In Europe, the number and creditworthiness of the coursesvaries, so make sure you get precise information. The International Office and the Dean's Office will confirm yourselection and ask for corrections if necessary. The LA is the basis for the recognition of courses at the EBC Universityand is therefore binding.

Transcript of RecordsYour Transcript of Records, the semester abroad, proves that you have successfully completed the course. The averageof your achievements is converted according to the modified Bavarian formula. 20 ECTS are hereby recognised and areincluded in the overall grade of your studies.

Tuition fees

We have an ERASMUS partnership with this university. You can apply for an ERASMUS place (Attention - the numberof ERASMUS places is limited).

For the participation in the ERASMUS programme an administration fee of 750,-Euro is due. In this case, no furthertuition fees will be charged at the ERASMUS university in which the student is located.

Cost of livingCost of living in Madrid is higher than in other parts of Spain. For rent, heating, electricity, food and transport you shouldexpect about Euro700 per month.

AuslandsBAföGStudents who receive an ERASMUS grant can combine it with AuslandsBAföG. Each region processes the applicationsfor a country or region; the Studierendenwerk Heidelberg is responsible for Spain.

Wohnen

The university has the possibility to accommodate students in student residences not far from the campus. However,places are limited and there is no place promised. Prices are not indicated.

Homestays are a popular option. Here students can stay with a host family. This option is slightly more expensive, butfood is provided. Students can choose between two or three meals a day (Half Board Homestay 785Euro and Full BoardHomestay 925Euro).

If you don't want to stay in a student residence, it is not difficult to find a room or an apartment in Madrid. The rent for aroom in a shared flat ("piso compartido") ranges between 250 and 350 euros all inclusive per month; a one-monthdeposit is often required,

Visum

The following information is subject to change, as visa requirements may change. Before applying for a visa, be sure tovisit the website of the competent Spanish authority and find out about the exact and current conditions!

Citizens of EU member states do not need a visa to enter Spain. All other countries must apply for a visa beforedeparture in order to enter Spain. This can be applied for at the Spanish Embassy or Consulate of your home country.

For citizens of countries outside the European Union, there are different types of residence permits, which mainly differaccording to the purpose and duration of entry. For example, a tourist visa cannot easily be converted into a studentvisa. It is also forbidden to stay in Spain on a tourist visa and study in Spain at the same time.

We recommend an early application, as experience has shown that the processing time can be quite long anddocuments with Spanish translation may be required.
