Thoughts From Our Minister
“A Journey of Spiritual Discovery”
Dear Unity Family,
A new year! A new beginning! An opportunity to explore possibilities and to make positive changes in our lives!
Unity’s theme for 2015 is “A Journey of Spiritual Discovery.” All of life is a journey and everything is our teacher if we attune ourselves to the Divine presence and are open and receptive to Divine guidance.
This year, each month, we will explore an aspect of our Spiritual Jour-ney which can refresh and renew us as we seek a fresh start, heal from a past hurt, or move forward towards a more fulfilling life. In January, we begin with the opportunity to discover/rediscover our passion and in February, we refocus on love/being love in expression.
May our journey together as a Unity family and our individual journeys bring us renewed energy, vitality, and commitment to the highest and best.
Happy New Year!
Rev. Julie

Special Services
Unity Community Gathering & Light Lunch
January 18th following the service is our next opportu-
nity to gather, have lunch together, ask questions, and
share suggestions and concerns.
Please join us and bring a light lunch item—salad,
soup, or finger food to share.
Burning Bowl Service
Sunday, January 4th, 2015, 10:30am
Begin the year with this special service which helps us to release the past and be
open to God’s highest good for us in the New Year. We symbolically burn our past
in the burning bowl and affirm our openness to our good by writing a letter of our
heart’s desire.
Ash Wednesday Service
Wednesday, February 18th, 6:30pm
This service is an opportunity to begin the Lenten Season by releasing what no longer serves us and
opening our hearts to experience the presence of God more fully.
Let’s Watch A Movie Together!
Join your Unity family to view the film,
“A Place to Stand”
on Sunday, February 15th at 12:30pm.
This film is the story of a man incarcerated for 25 years. Jimmy Santiago Baca was de-serted by a family he was better off without. The film tells his story, including how he taught himself to read and write in prison. Jimmy is now an internationally acclaimed poet, author, film maker, and devoted husband and father of five children. This is a miracle story, uplift-ing and heartbreaking.
Discussion led by Carolyn Robinson will follow the film presentation.

New Members for Unity Church!
On November 23rd, we welcomed into membership at unity Church:
(Maria Wilson, Angie Hernandez, Dave Freas, Sherri Freas, & Deb Gibson (not pictured))
We send blessings to these new members, each of whom brings their own special light to our ministry!
3rd Annual Retreat at Mariawald
“A Journey of Spiritual Discovery”
June 12 - 14, 2015
Beginning with an individual theme/focus for our journey of Spiritual discovery, each of us will, throughout this weekend, come to a deeper understanding of our journey at this time in our lives and how to live life with a greater sense of peace, joy, and connection to spirit.
Due to extensive renovations at Mariawald this year (making it even more comfortable and appealing), the cost for the week-end has increased slightly.
A room for 2 nights and 6 meals (beginning with dinner Friday evening and ending with lunch on Sunday) will be: $160 for single occupancy; $140 for a shared room.
In addition, during the retreat weekend, a love offering will be taken for the retreat program.
Reservations plus a $50 non-refundable deposit are due March 15, 2015. Sign up at church, call (717) 838-7808, or email [email protected].

Metaphysical Bible Classes
Unity is unique in its study of the Bible as it explores the Bible metaphysically—looking at symbolic meanings that relate characters, places, and events to the process of spiritual growth within each one of us and giving practical meaning for everyday life.
Join Rev. Julie as we explore the Bible metaphysically.
Sunday, January 25th, 12:30 - 2:30pm
Old Testament Metaphysics - We will explore the main event of the Old Testament—The Exodus from Egypt/The Israelites Wandering in the Wilderness and how it relates to our life experiences.
Sunday, February 22nd, 12:30 - 2:30pm
New Testament Metaphysics - Jesus performed a variety of miracles—prosperity miracles, healing miracles, and mystical miracles. We will explore a few of these miracles and how we can apply this “miracle consciousness” in our own lives.
If your birthday is not currently listed, please let us know so that we can add you to the list.
