The Great Lakes are a collection of freshwater lakes in the northeastern part of America. They are found in-between the United States and Canada.

What lakes are included in the Great Lakes?

• Lake Michigan• Lake Superior• Lake Huron• Lake Ontario• Lake Erie

What do the Great Lakes have to offer?

• The Great Lakes are the largest group of freshwater lakes in the world!!!

• Many fish such as trout and salmon can be found in the Great Lakes

• The Great Lakes are surrounded by land

Why is the St. Lawrence River important?

• The St. Lawrence River links the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean!!!

What is a gulf?

• A gulf is a body of water that is a part of an ocean or sea that is almost surrounded by land

Where is the Gulf of Mexico?

• The Gulf of Mexico is a body of water along the southern United States and Mexico.

What is the Continental Divide???

• The Continental Divide, also called the Great Divide, is a natural boundary line separating waters that flow into the Atlantic Ocean or Gulf of Mexico from those that flow into the Pacific Ocean.

• The Continental Divide runs along the peak of the Rocky Mountains.

What are coastal plains???

You know that a COAST is land next to an ocean.

You know that a PLAIN is an area of large flat land.

A coastal plain is a large area of flat land that is next to an ocean!!!

• A valley is low land between hills or mountains

• Death Valley is a desert located in the Southwestern part of the United States, primarily in California.
