Dear Friends,
In reviewing the accomplishments of our United States teams in 2018, I was in awe of the talent, competitive spirit and patriotism of our athletes and teams. Not only did the United States have its best World Equestrian Games in history, winning 12 medals - 3 Gold, 5 Silver and 4 Bronze - there were many personal bests illustrating the progression along the pathway, and podium finishes within reach for many more. There is much to celebrate and look forward to from all eight disciplines in the coming year.
There were over 250 athletes involved in US Equestrian’s emerging, development and elite high performance programs who benefited from the generous support you provided this year. Additionally, your contributions and commitment to our teams make it possible to assemble the most skilled and professional veterinarians, farriers, physiotherapists, team managers and grooms, the “team behind the team”, allowing the athletes to remain focused on their job which is critical to their success, thank you.
The extraordinary generosity of the USET Foundation’s closest friends, supporters and stakeholders has accelerated advancement for our United States Equestrian Teams. This has allowed US Equestrian to increase support for high performance athletes and expand development programs, strengthening the pipeline of talented and experienced riders, drivers and vaulters for future championships.
Ensuring the future means affording elite and developing athletes the opportunity and financial resources to train and compete globally throughout the quadrennial. We extend our steadfast gratitude to you, our friends and supporters who love the sport and are helping our athletes and teams achieve greatness on the world stage. GO USA!
Sincerely,
W. James McNerney, Jr.President and CEO

“This experience has been amazing. The team is so, so supportive and the
veteran riders have been really great for us to talk to and get the lay of the
land. Thank you to the USET Foundation for the amazing support they
have given us. We can’t thank them enough because without them we
wouldn’t be here. The overall experience has been one I will never forget.”

Hamilton Farm is the headquarters for the USET Foundation’s staff, as well as some offices for US Equestrian’s High Performance personnel. The facility continues to be a center for High Performance training and competitions, as well as a sought after location for local equestrian and special events.
In 2018 the Foundation hosted various events including: the Platinum Performance/USEF Talent Search Finals East, the Monmouth at the Team Horse Show, NJ Region Pony Club Show and Rally, Somerset Hills Pony Club Camp, ESDCTA Summer Days Show, Side Saddle Show, Gladstone Combined Test & Horse Driving Trial, Breyer PonyUp! Eventing Area II Young Rider Training, High Performance Dressage Training Sessions, Purina/Budweiser Clydesdale Event and pre-export travel and quarantine for various international disciplines.
The USET Foundation was honored to host the Celebration of Life for William C. Steinkraus, Chairman Emeritus. Bill was an iconic member of our United States Equestrian Team. He rode in five Olympic Games and was America’s first athlete to win an individual medal in any equestrian discipline. He was also a Yale graduate, a gifted violinist, and a member of the U.S. Cavalry in World War II. Always a true gentleman, Bill was a legendary ambassador of our sport and our country.

Awards
LIONEL GUERRAND-HERMÈS TROPHY
Daisy FarishThe Lionel Guerrand-Hermès Trophy was awarded to Daisy Farish for her achievements and potential as a representative of the United States at International Competitions. At just 18 years old, Farish has steadily been climbing the ranks in the jumper ring and has had notable results in the competitive U25 classes with Great White, an 11-year-old Holsteiner gelding.
In 2018 she experienced immense success, including earning the individual gold medal at the Adequan/FEI North American Youth Championships (NAYC) where she was the highest placing U.S. young rider. This accomplishment earned her a spot on the U.S. team in September for the FEI Jumping Nations Cup Youth Final in Opglabbeek, Belgium where she produced two clear rounds.

History
Billy Haggard working with the famous Bold Minstrel in the USET arena in 1959 prior to the Chicago Pan American Games. They won a team silver in Eventing at the 1959 Pan American Games along with teammates Michael Page, Michael Plumb and Walter Staley and earned 9th place individually. An interesting fact about Bold Minstrel is that he earned medals in three Pan Am Games and one Olympic Games, in two different disciplines, a feat unmatched by any other horse. Billy Steinkraus competed Bold Minstrel in show jumping and won numerous
international events. The pair also set a puissance record of 7’3” at the National Horse Show at Madison Square Garden in 1967.
