This is to notify you that based upon our review of EPArecords, EPA believes that your company may be a responsibleparty as defined under the Comprehensive Environmental Response,Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980 ("CERCLA") and the SuperfundAmendment and Reauthorization Act of 1986 ("SARA") for the abovereferenced site. Under these laws and others, responsibleparties may be liable for up to three times all monies expendedby the Federal Government to take investigatory, planning,removal and remedial actions at hazardous waste sites. Respon-sible parties under CERCLA include the current and past ownersand/or operators of the site referenced above, and the currentand past owners and/or operators of businesses which generatedthe hazardous substances or were involved in its transport,treatment or disposal at the site.

At this time, EPA is currently expending public funds toabate the imminent and substantial endangerment to healthand the environment at this site by conducting the followingactivities:

1. A preliminary site assessment including additionalsampling;

2. A feasibility study on the treatability of wastesat the site.

EPA anticipates expending public funds in the future forthe following activities: '.

1. Removal or treatment of contaminated water from theon-site lagoon and storage tank;

2. Excavation of contaminated soils;3. Any other activities necessary to abate the threat

to human health and the environment.

By this letter, EPA is offering you opportunity toundertake all or some of these actions. Unless EPA determinesthat a responsible party will take over these activities, EPAwill continue to expend public funds to abate the hazards atthis site.

You should notify EPA in writing by February 15, 1988,if you or your company is willing, unwilling, or unable toperform, finance or participate in any or all the above describedactions at the site. Your letter should indicate the appropriatename, address, and telephone number for further contact withyou. It should be sent to:
