• The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea is an international agreement which resulted from the 3rd UNCLOS.

• It defines the various rights that countries are entitled to and the responsibilities that they must carry when it comes to the use of the worlds oceans.

• It establishes guidelines in the areas of business, and management of marine natural resources.

• When the treaty was completed, it replaced four previous UNCLOS.
