PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO RIGHTSThe Organisers would like to bring the regulation on photography and fi lming to the attention of exhibitors, trade stands, press and visitors.

It is a condition of all those attending the event that no fi lming or other form of recording may be taken or made at the venue without the express written permission of the organisers. The taking of photographs in the show venue for sale or reward is strictly prohibited except with the written permission of the Organisers. Press accredited photographers are provided with permission to take photographs ONLY for use in newspapers, magazines and internet sites - this is for news purposes only. There is no objection to the general public taking photographs of general views of the Show, provided that these are for private use. Specifi c dogs may be photographed only with the approval of the exhibitor. No photography or fi lming is permitted in breed judging rings whilst judging is actually taking place. However, judges may allow it to happen at the end of classes or after the Challenge Certifi cate is awarded. Filming and fl ash photography is allowed from outside the rings at all times unless the operation of the camera is actually affecting exhibits. However, if a powerful fl ash unit is used or if it is clear that exhibits are being affected, a ring steward or the judge is empowered to stop the person concerned.

THE KENNEL CLUB SPECIAL BEGINNER COMPETITION

The Kennel Club is delighted to announce its sponsorship of a Special Beginners Competition from 2018 at General and Group Championship Shows to encourage more exhibitors to experience a Group competition.

Each show society will be required to schedule a Special Beginner class for dogs and bitches in each breed plus AVNSC and Imported Breed Register classes. The Best Special Beginner to be declared for each breed plus AVNSC and Imported Breed Register classes to go forward to the group competition.

It is hoped that exhibitors and the competition itself will receive maximum visibility at each show. It is preferable for all judging to take place in the main ring, although it is accepted that this may not always be possible. If time does not allow for all judging to take place in the main ring, pre judging can take place, but the fi nal decision and presentation of awards must be made in the main ring. It is at each society’s discretion as to the time the group is to be judged.

The Kennel Club will provide sponsorship in the form of rosettes 1st – 4th for each group together with prize money of £100 for each group to be awarded as follows: 1st prize - £40, 2nd prize -£30, 3rd prize -£20, 4th prize - £10.

If you would like to include the Special Beginner Competition at your show please let me know so that I can provide more details about the issuance of rosettes and prize money.

The dog declared Best Puppy in Show, however, must not compete in any subsequent competition. Puppies may be withdrawn from Any Variety classes when judged before Breed classes.

(1) Best of Breed. Where a breed is separately classifi ed a Best of Breed may be declared but only from those dogs which have received a fi rst prize in a breed class at the show. Where separate classes are provided for each sex of a breed a Best of each Sex must be declared. NOTE: The Best of Breed/Best Any Variety Not Separately Classifi ed award relevant to a Category 3 Breed will not be confi rmed until the dog has passed an examination by the General and Group Championship Show Veterinary Surgeon.

(2) Best of Group. From 1st January 2017, and for a period of one year the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the group or best in show competitions are suspended. (Please refer to the FAQs on the Kennel Club Website for further information). Best of Group and subsequent group placings must be selected from:

b. Withdrawal from Other Competition. Dogs which become eligible for Best of Group and Best in Show may be withdrawn from all other competition (other than Breed Classes and Best of Breed) prior to the competition for Best of Group or Best in Show as appropriate in order to remain unbeaten. A dog beaten in competition for Best of Group or Best in Show may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it was previ-ously eligible. The dogs declared Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show however, must not compete in any subsequent competition. Dogs may be withdrawn from Any Variety Classes when judged before Breed Classes.

c. Proviso. For the purposes of this Regulation dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Brace and Team or a Special Award confi ned to a single breed, will not be considered to be beaten dogs.

13. Exhibits will not be admitted to Group or Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the Show Management.

14. Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11.

15. It is not acceptable to handle a dog in a manner which causes its feet not to touch the ground when on the move. Exhibitors should note that such practices could constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11.

16. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) — Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition.

17. All dogs resident outside the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor.

18. DOGS IN VEHICLES ON HOT DAYS. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at Kennel Club licensed events.

When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffi c jams.

If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available

to drink. Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free fl owing air around the dog. When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. Keep the dog in the shade—take your own shade, for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water

available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results.

Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK, FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met,

8

and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Limited Rules and Regulations. Exhibitors/ Competitors are reminded that show societies have the right under Kennel Club Regulation to refuse any entry.

19. Not For Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered.

20. No modifi cations will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the General Committee of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible.

21. All entries must be made on or before Monday, 19th February, 2018 upon forms enclosed for that purpose. All monies must be sent at the time of making entries and cheques and postal orders must be made payable to The United King-dom Toydog Society.

22. No dog may be removed from its bench except for the purpose of being exercised, prepared for the Show Ring, Judged, or by order of the Veterinary Surgeon or Show Committee.

23. An exercise area will be provided at the Show and Exhibitors and handlers are requested to clear up any fouling made by the dog(s) in their charge. Special Bins will be provided.

24. If a dog is not on its bench when required for judging the Committee will not be responsible for exhibitors missing their classes.

25. Conversation is not allowed in the Judging Ring between Exhibitors and Judges. 26. Gangways must be kept clear of obstructions, and Offi cers of the Society are empowered to see any such obstruction

is removed. 27. Should any question arise not provided for in these regulations the decision of the Committee shall be fi nal, subject to

appeal to the Kennel Club.

THE YOUNG KENNEL CLUB MEMBERS STAKESJudge Norma Inglis

389 Special Open Toy Dog or BitchOnly dogs of six (6) calendar months of age and over on the day of competition are eligible for entry into a YKC qual-ifying stakes class. Dogs must be on the Kennel Club Breed Register to compete in a YKC stakes competition. The fi rst placed member only in each dog group at the qualifying show will qualify for Crufts. A rosette will be awarded. If a member is disqualifi ed, the qualifi cation does not roll down to the next placing. All pedigree dogs are eligible to take part provided the dog is registered on the Kennel Club Breed Register. The dog must be registered a) solely or jointly in the member’s name or b) in the name of a close member of the family (i.e. a group of people related by blood or by marriage) and under these circumstances the dog must be resident at the YKC member’s address. No substitute handlers are permitted — the dog must be handled by the registered YKC member. Members are not permitted to allow another individual to show their dog at the qualifi er on their behalf if they are not able to attend the class, unless agreed by the YKC Offi ce prior to the show. Members must be aged 6 - 24 years (members 6 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday). Please note that membership of the YKC terminates on a member’s 25th birthday. Therefore if a member is aged 25 years or over by the fi rst day of Crufts they will be unable to compete in any YKC class. Please keep this in mind when entering qualifi ers throughout the competing year. In order to enter any YKC competition you must be a fully paid up member at the time of entry and competition. If you enter a Crufts qualifi er and you have not previously paid your membership fee then any award will be forfeited Therefore it is important to renew and maintain YKC membership as current if you wish to participate in YKC competitions.

392 AV Special Open Toydog - Handler 18-24 years (for members of 17 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday)

Only dogs of six (6) calendar months of age and over on the day of competition are eligible for entry into a YKC qual-ifying class. Qualifi cation is on a points basis as follows: 1st place = 30 points; 2nd place = 20 points; 3rd place = 10 points. Members will receive points per group (i.e. if they handle a Bloodhound, they will get points towards the Hound group). If a member gains 30 points in any one group, they will qualify to enter a dog from that group at Crufts 2019. If a member gains 30 or more points in multiple groups, they may only compete with one dog at Crufts, but they will have the option to choose from any of the groups they have 30 or more points in. A full copy of the 2018 rules (for Crufts 2019) can be found here: http://www.ykc.org.uk/media/8824/ykc-handling-regulations-2018-crufts-2019.pdf.

The classes are divided into three age groups: 6-11 years (6 years and up to, but not including 12th birthday). 12-17 years (12 years and up to, but not including 18th birthday). 18-24 years (18 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday). In order to enter any YKC competition, you must be a fully paid up member at the time of entry and com-petition. If you enter a Crufts qualifi er and you have not previously paid your membership fee then any award will be forfeited. Therefore it is important to renew and maintain YKC membership as current if you wish to participate in YKC competitions.
