Summary of the text When Roy and Myra met for a candle-lit dinner, they talked about their love and the ongoing War. Roy hastily proposed marriage to Myra, who hesitated since the country was then at war and Roy was leaving for the battle field in two day’s time. Both Roy and Myra were surprised R eventually returned from the war and ran into Myra at Waterloo station. Having given a very brief account of what happened to him during the war, Roy asked Myra to come with him back to London, which Myra, for the reason she only wanted to keep

to herself, refused. Myra also removed Roy’s suspicion that she was awaiting some person in particular at the station. Finally, because of her shameful life as a prostitute during Roy’s absence and the fear of disgracing the Cronin family, Myra, with her deep love for roy, committed suicide by running into the traffic on waterloo bridge.
