Lesson 1: Sources of electricity
Prepare by science teacher malaysia
Learning Area
Learning Objective
5.1 Sources of electricity
Learning Outcomes
5. Electricity
Teaching and Learning Procedure
Set Induction
Teacher distribute an object to each group
e.g.: group 1 (toy car) group 2 (hand phone) group 3 (radio) group 4 (alarm clock) group 5 (torch light)*All these object were given without
batteries
Step 1
Step 2
Teacher asks:
• How does toy car/ hand phone/ radio/ alarm clock/torch light can be operated?
(pupils answer the question)
• Teacher asks pupils to choose the correctsources of electricity to be put in the objects
Development
● Based on the picture of page 46 of the Textbook, each group tries to identify activities or situations that involve electricity
● Teacher asks pupils to name the activities that use electrical energy in the picture
●Teacher asks pupils to name the supplier of electricity in Malaysia
● List other activities at home that use electrical energy
Teaching and Learning Activity
Teacher asks pupils to name some appliances that use electricity to work (based on the text book page 47)
Teacher distributes wire and bulb to each group
Teacher explains that they are going to light up the bulb by selecting the different sources of electricity such as dynamo or dry cell. Ask pupils to predict before testing
CLOSURE
Teacher relates the uses of sources of electricity in daily life.
Teacher reminds pupils to use electricity wisely.
CONCLUSION
Things that can produce electrical energy are called sources of electricity.
The main sources of electricity are dry cell, dynamo, accumulator, solar cell and hydroelectric power.
