    Unit 2 Project: Political Campaign PosterPurpose: The goal of this project is for you to learn a little bit more about how voters educatethemselves about political candidates, and about the candidates running for political office in thecity of Boston, and to subsequently educate your fellow students, and TechBoston families, aboutthe candidates running for office in this years city councilor election.

    Points Possible: 100 (As much as a Unit Test) Due Date: Wednesday, November 9th

    ProcedureStep 1: Choose a candidate: There is a major election coming up this year in Bostonone inwhich voters will be deciding who will lead our city for the next 2 years as our city councilors.Investigate the candidates for City Council At-Large, and choose one who you support.

    Step 2: Research your candidate. Use the internet, the evening news, the newspaper, and yourfamily and friends to find out more about the candidate running for office. Most candidates alsohave Facebook and/or Twitter pages, and may email you back if you send them an email askingthem questions! Make sure you can answer the following questions about your candidate:

    What political party does he/she represent? What is the candidates background? (Childhood, Education, Work Experience,

    Important Life Events)

    Why is the candidate running for office? What experience does the candidate have that prepares him/her to lead ourgovernment? What are the major actions that the candidate is saying he/she will take action on if

    elected? What does the candidate want to do to improve Boston?Due Date: Wednesday, November 2, 2011

    Step 3: Create your political campaign advertisement. Your poster should educate othersabout your candidate. You are trying to convince them to vote for your candidate, so you need tobe persuasive. Your advertisement MUST include:

    Your candidates name The position your candidate is running for A photograph of your candidate At least5 experiences the candidate has had that prepare him/her to lead,

    summarized in YOUR OWN WORDS.

    At least5 of the candidates major platform planks, summarized in YOUR OWNWORDS.

    A 6-8 sentence endorsement (persuasive statement), written in paragraph form,saying why you think your candidate is the best person for the job.
