UNIFORM REGULATIONS

1. Summer uniform is worn in September and again in May and June.

2. Winter uniform (formal and informal) is worn October through April and at other

times as announced.

3. Clothes must fit appropriately. This means no oversized or tight clothing and modest

skirt and shorts length. Skirts and shorts must be no more than 2 inches above the

knee. The decision of the administration as to appropriate fit is final. Parents bear the

risk that ill-fitting uniforms will have to be replaced.

4. All shirts and blouses are to be worn tucked-in at all times. NO cargo pants or

shorts are allowed. Think “Docker style” for khaki slacks and navy walking shorts.

5. All girls’ sweaters and vests must be monogrammed. Monograms, where required,

are to be uniform. Monograms should be in white, block capital letters, horizontal

(not diagonal), and high on the left side of the chest. Exact placement will vary

according to the size of the garment.

6. The wearing of jewelry is not allowed. The only exceptions to this are religious

medals and wristwatches, and (for girls only) small pierced post earrings.

7. Girls may wear hair ribbons or headbands of any color.

8. Nail polish, makeup and dyed hair are not allowed.

9. Hairstyle must be neat and is subject to the approval of the administration. Facial hair

is not permitted.

10. Shoes should not have a heel in excess of 2 inches. Non-scuff shoes are

requested. High-heels and kitten-heels are not allowed. No shoes with built-in

wheels and/or rollers are allowed anywhere on the school campus.

Primary School Girls (K-2)

1. Formal Winter Uniform

(Wednesdays & Thursdays; other days as instructed)

▪ box pleated tunic Black Watch plaid jumper—must be princess style (Note: The PS

jumper is available at Schoolbelles and Rhedhöuse only, not at Lands End)

▪ white, long or short sleeved round collar blouse with or without navy piping

▪ monogrammed navy or forest green, buttoned or zippered, cardigan sweater

(optional)

▪ navy, forest green or black opaque, non-textured tights or knee highs or plain white

ankle socks, must be over the ankle

▪ black, brown or navy loafer, Mary Jane or tie-style shoes (no shoes with heels in

(Mondays, Tuesdays & Fridays)

▪ modest dress: no shoulders, no stomachs or thighs exposed

5. Gym Uniform

▪ gym shoes to be kept at school (athletic shoes with support, no ked-type sneakers

or high tops, please)

Students may wear navy or black fleece pants with or without the Sacred Heart logo under their uniform jumpers when the weather is cold, before and after school and at recess only.

No pajama flannels (and no other type of sweatpants) allowed.

Middle School Boys (6-8) 1. Formal Winter Uniform (Wednesdays & Thursdays; other days as instructed)

▪ khaki “Docker style” slacks (NO cargo pants)

▪ dark belt

▪ white, long or short sleeved cotton-blend, button-down, Oxford cloth type shirt

▪ navy blazer with Hardey patch emblem (emblem available from the SHS bookstore)

▪ solid red tie (available from the SHS bookstore)

▪ over the ankle dark or khaki socks

▪ black, brown or navy loafer or tie-style shoes

(no shoes with heels in excess of 2 inches), rubber-soled, non-scuff shoes preferred

2. Informal Winter Uniform (Mondays, Tuesdays & Fridays)

▪ same as formal winter uniform, with the option of wearing:

▪ blazer

▪ navy cardigan or navy school sweatshirt (sweatshirt available from the SHS

bookstore)

▪ solid red tie (available from the SHS bookstore)

3. Summer Uniform (September, May & June)

▪ navy walking shorts, (not to be more than 2 inches above the knee) with or without

cuffs (NO cargo shorts) ▪ dark belt if shorts have belt loops

▪ white, short sleeved polo shirt (to be worn tucked-in)

▪ navy school sweatshirt (available from the SHS bookstore)

▪ white socks, must be visible

▪ gym shoes should have laces and must be predominately white, navy, grey or black,

no high-tops

4. Out-of-Uniform Day

(First Friday of every month, except in September, May & June)

▪ no t-shirts with inappropriate messages

▪ no ripped or torn clothing

▪ no sweatpants or shorts unless approved by Division Head

▪ no clogs or backless shoes

5. Gym Uniform

▪ gym shoes to be kept at school (athletic shoes with support, no ked-type sneakers or

high tops, please) To be purchased from the SHS bookstore only: t-shirts with

school logo and red shorts with 6” inseam

6. Hair

▪ hair length must be above the collar, hair must be clean and well-groomed

▪ no extreme hairstyles allowed and facial hair is not permitted

UNIFORM REGULATIONS

1. Summer uniform is worn in September and again in May and June.

2. Winter uniform (formal and informal) is worn October through April and at other

times as announced.

3. Clothes must fit appropriately. This means no oversized or tight clothing and modest

skirt and shorts length. Skirts and shorts must be no more than 2 inches above the

knee. The decision of the administration as to appropriate fit is final. Parents bear the

risk that ill-fitting uniforms will have to be replaced.

4. All shirts and blouses are to be worn tucked-in at all times. NO cargo pants or

shorts are allowed. Think “Docker style” for khaki slacks and navy walking shorts.

5. All girls’ sweaters and vests must be monogrammed. Monograms, where required,

are to be uniform. Monograms should be in white, block capital letters, horizontal

(not diagonal), and high on the left side of the chest. Exact placement will vary

according to the size of the garment.

6. The wearing of jewelry is not allowed. The only exceptions to this are religious

medals and wristwatches, and (for girls only) small pierced post earrings.

7. Girls may wear hair ribbons or headbands of any color.

8. Nail polish, makeup and dyed hair are not allowed.

9. Hairstyle must be neat and is subject to the approval of the administration. Facial hair

is not permitted.

10. Shoes should not have a heel in excess of 2 inches. Non-scuff shoes are

requested. High-heels and kitten-heels are not allowed. No shoes with built-in

wheels and/or rollers are allowed anywhere on the school campus.
