# DescriptionWhen performing an action through the Workstation VM with a user that does not haveappropriate UCP credentials the UCP system will refuse an action from that user. Thefollowing error will show: "Unkown Error: The HTTP request is unauthorized with clientauthentication scheme "Negotiate". The authentication header received from the serverwas "Negotiate, NTLM".

Workaround:When using the Workstation VM for accessing UCP,make sure to log onto the VM with the same credentials that you'll use to authenticate UCP login. This mayrequire first logging into the Workstation VM as domain administrator and then grantingyour user the rights to remote-desktop into the VM.

Ethernet switch refresh job fails when one or more hosts in vCenter isdisconnected or in a not responding state

Occasionally, when one or more servers is in a disconnected or not responding state invCenter, the Ethernet switch refresh job fails in UCP.

Workaround: Remove all disconnected/not responding hosts from vCenter inventory.

Pressing Enter after entering the details while adding a site in DOC doesnothing

While adding a site in DOC, after all the necessary information is entered, hitting enteron the keyboard does not submit the information to DOC.

Workaround: Click the OK button to submit the information to DOC.

Concurrent storage operations using different intended use options on thesame storage ports may cause one of the storage operations to fail

Under rare circumstances when two storage provisioning operations involving the samestorage ports andmultiple intended use types (that are performed simultaneously), oneof the storage operations will fail. This is because of a locking condition where oneoperation which is creating the Host Storage Domain, locks it and the second operationcannot re-use the same Host Storage Domain.

Workaround: Re-run the storage provisioning operation.

Users are unable to click the About button when on an error screen

When users are on an error screen, they are unable to click the About button for moreinformation about the system.

Workaround: Open another page without an error, for example the Jobs and Eventspage, to be able to click the button.

4969Cannot detach non-boot volumes from a Hyper-V host through UCP inSCVMM environment when it is powered off and not in SCVMM inventory

# DescriptionUnder rare circumstances, e.g. when Hyper-V host is powered off in an SCVMMenvironment and removed from SCVMM inventory, UCP cannot remove non-bootvolumes from the host.

Workaround: Power the host on and re-add the host to the SCVMM inventory to beable to detach volumes from the SCVMM host.

UCP storage operations become inaccessible when all Hyper-V hosts arepowered off in an SCVMM environment

Under rare circumstances when ALL the Hyper-V hosts are powered off, UCP storageoperations become inaccessible and cause UCP Director to throw errors. This is due tothe fact that UCP Director cache gets invalidated and needs to be re-built.

Workaround: Make sure one of the Hyper-V hosts is online for UCP Director to re-buildthe cache.

UCP Director contextual actions are disabled in SCVMM

When using SCVMMwith UCP Director, it is not possible to navigate to Fabrics >SelectElements > Select UCP Director contextual actions, e.g. Fabrics > All Hosts > Right clickand perform actions.

Workaround: Directly open the UCP Director plugin to perform said actions.

Incorrect URL opens from chassis console in vSphere Web Client

When accessing the chassis console from the vSphere Web Client actions tab, thebrowser will open but not load due to an incorrect URL. The URL opens at http://, butshould open at https://.

Workaround: Change the URL manually from http:// to https://.

Cannot create a HB3 cluster in UCP v4.1/v4.1.1 when host has 4 networkports initially configured

Due to a pre job validation check in UCP for older blade models (HB1, HB2), UCP expectsexactly two ports to be configured on a blade while creating a host profile from areference host used to create the cluster. Any other number of ports configured willresult in the job not going through.

Workaround: Configure exactly two ports on the reference host while creating a hostprofile to be used on the cluster. Once the cluster is set up and running, the remainingtwo powerts can be added to the dvSwitches.

Cannot use volumes with mixed intended use types in server template

During the creation of service template, volumes with different intended use types canbe selected to be created and attached to the host. However when the service templateis applied, it fails to attach the volume with the intended use different from the defaulthost type.

UI allows users to select incompatible blade types when performing actionsin "Change Images"

Users should be aware of compatible blade types, and should avoid changing the imagesto incompatible blade types. HB1 and HB2 blades are compatible with one another, andHB3 blades do not support backwards compatibility with HB1 and HB2 blades.

Workaround: Create a new image for the intended blade type, and apply it to thecompatible blade.

Cannot edit EFI settings when editing a server profile

When the user is editing a server profile, the user is unable to edit the EFI settings.

Workaround: There are two current workarounds for this bug:

• Delete the current server profile and create a new one .

• Use the API to edit the EFI settings.

In an SCVMM UCP environment, applying only a server profile on a bladecauses the blade to show up as a Custom boot type.

In an SCVMM UCP environment when any server profile is applied on a blade, the bladecomes up as a Custom boot type. As a result, no service template or other server profilecan be applied on this blade. Additionally, Apply service template UI for that blade cannotbe opened.

Workaround: Apply server profile using the apply service template workflow only. Incase the server is stuck as a custom boot type, remove the server profile and thenreapply the server profile using the service template workflow.

Create/Apply Server profile does not check if the IP being used for it is already inuse

When a server profile is created and then subsequently being applied, it does not check if the IPaddress being applied is already in use. In case the IP address is already in use, the job fails.

Workaround: Manually check that the IP address is not being used before applying serverprofile

Windows HyperV service template deployment fails in an environment with ashared external AD if an IP is reused

In a UCP Director HyperV environment deployedwith an shared external active directory, theHyperV deployment fails if a previously used IP is used during deployment. This happensbecause while a Forward Lookup record is successfully created for the host during deployment,the corresponding Reverse Lookup record is not created (if a pre-existing Reverse Lookup recordexists). So when UCP polls for the Host, the only item returned is for the old Reverse Lookuprecord. This causes the apply service template job to fail.

Workaround: Delete existing Forward Lookup entries for IP address either whendeprovisioning the host, or before deploying a service template.

Cannot log out of Datacenter Operations Center UI

It is not possible for a user to log out of the Datacenter Operations Center (DOC) UI. The userstays logged in even after the browser is closed.

Workaround: Clear browser history. If using a chrome browser - force close the chromeprocess.

UCP 4.0 does not support SRM6.0

The SRM 6.0, SRA 5.8 and Disaster Recovery feature are not supported in the UCP 4.0 releasewhen installing the vCenter 6.0 environment.

Workaround/Resolution: If intending to use the Disaster Recovery feature, do not installvCenter 6.0. Instead use the vCenter 5.5 instance.

Running Attach-UCPVolume CLI command without passing parameters does notprompt for mandatory parameter 'serverId' or 'clusterId'

While running the UCP CLI Command to attach volumes to a cluster or a host without providingany parameters, the CLI command does not prompt for mandatory parameter 'clusterId' or'serverId', causing the command to fail.

Workaround: Use the CLI commandwith the required parameters as specified in the examplefor Attach-UCPVolume. It can be found by running the following command: Get-Help Attach-UCPVolume -example

UCP 4.0 does not support Federated UCP's via an external PSC - Join site

UCP 4.0 does not support an external PSC configured in a federatedmode when the user selectsto Join a Site.

Workaround/Resolution: Do not select to join a site when installing & configuring vCenterthrough the UCP workflow using an external PSC. Refer to VMware documentation and the UCPvCenter Manual install guide for additional details.

Username column is blank in UCP Switch Events page on VMware Web Client

The username column is blank within a Switch Summary monitoring page when viewing eventson said switch. This issue is seen only on the VMware web client

Workaround: View the Switch summary page on the VMware Thick Client

Individual monitoring indicators set to Unknown still show up in UCP afterelements have been offboarded causing DOC to show incorrect number ofUnknown indicators

If any specific indicators on an onboarded element in UCP are set to Unknown and the elementis offboarded, the individual element indicators still linger on and show 'Unknown', causing DOCto show incorrect number of Unknown indicators.

Workaround: Set all indicators of onboarded elements to 'Monitoring' before offboardingelements.

Ethernet switch summary displays an incorrect message without networkprivileges

When logged into UCP as a user without network privileges (ie. UCP Storage Admin) theEthernet Switch Summary page is not displayedwith an incorrect error. "Sorry, an erroroccurred while processing your request".

Workaround/Resolution: Disregard this error when logged in a non-Network privileged useror log in as a user with network privileges.

Unable to add online repositories for VMware in UCP 4.0

There is a regression with VMware code that causes PowerCLI to fail when an external VMwareonline repository is added. This leads to PowerCLI failures which can cause UCP API failures.More details about the issue can be found here:https://communities.vmware.com/thread/489560 Resolution: - Remove all VMware onlinerepositories

Workaround/Recommendations going forward: Do not add any VMware onlinerepositories into UCP

1241UCP Director will intermittently not display the server profile name correctly if theDNS host name for the server is same as the server profile IP address.

# DescriptionThere is an intermittent issue with UCP Management cache where UCP Director will notcorrectly display the server profile name for a host if the DNS host name for that server matchesthe corresponding IP address for that server within the server profile.

Workaround: Try to use host names that do not match server profile IP address or if there is aneed to keep these consistent then make sure you perform the ipconfig /flushdns command toensure the right server profile name gets populated within UCP Director.

Apply service template fails with error message "UCP failed to update DHCPconfiguration."

This issue is seen when the UCP Utility VM which acts as the DHCP server in the UCPManagement stack goes into recovery mode and the filesystem is in a read only mode. Becauseof this, UCP cannot create DHCP entries for a blade while applying a service template and the jobfails continuously.

Workaround: Reboot the UCP utility VM and verify that the file system is mounted in readwrite mode.

Locales for DOC, UCP, and SQL VM's must be consistent in an HUR DisasterRecovery configuration

Locales for DOC, UCP, and SQL VM's must be consistent in an HUR Disaster Recoveryconfiguration. When performing journal operations all VM's must be the same locale - English(US) to perform journal operations within an HUR configuration.

Workaround: Configure DOC, UCP, and SQL VM to be the same locale - English (US)

UCP Refresh Ethernet Switch Summary fails with disconnected servers

Disconnected hosts in vCenter inventory cause UCP to incorrectly query associated virtualswitches, causing a refresh switch summary to fail. Expired licenses may cause servers todisconnect, if so please update the vCenter licenses.

Workaround: Remove the disconnected servers from the vCenter inventory and perform anEthernet Switch Inventory refresh.

vSphere Distributed Switch VLAN and MTU warnings when rebooting a computeblade

These warnings may be visible in the vSphere health check UI after a compute blade has beenrebooted.

# DescriptionWorkaround/Resolution: Ensure that all portgroups in the virtual distributed switch withdifferent VLANs have the same MTU in the physical switch because ESXi will not detect the MTUmismatch of full paths and Jumbo Frame packets might forwarded to other physical switch portswhich are out of the virtual distributed switch. At those ports, there is a risk that the JumboFrame packets might be dropped if that port and VLAN do not enable Jumbo Frames.

Additionally, ensure the number of MAC addresses to be generated by the health check will beless than the size of the physical switch(es) MAC table. Otherwise there is a risk that theswitches will run out of memory, with subsequent network connectivity failures.

ESXi host disconnected from vSphere client cannot be powered off from UCP UI

If a particular server is disconnected from vSphere client, when we try to power it off from theUCP UI, it fails.

Workaround: Add the host back in vSphere inventory and then issue the power off command.OR If the host cannot be added back to vSphere inventory, the UCP API or CLI can be used toforce power off the server.

DOC UI Allows user to select non-deployed blades as secondary hosts

In the DOC UI, while setting up replication between two hosts, the host at the secondary site isallowed to be selected even if it is not deployed. This kicks off the job, but fails since thesecondary site does not have the host deployed.

Workaround: Only select hosts on the secondary sites which are deployed.

UCP Director API for create and attach volumes does not immediately validatestorage ports when specified manually

When storage ports are specifiedmanually while using the UCP Director API end point for createand attach volumes, the job is kicked off without verifying if the selected ports match UCPDirector criteria for storage ports. As a result, the user cannot know until the job fails if theselected ports met the criteria or not. As a result, the storage volume created as a part of the jobremains in the pool as well.

Workaround: Refer to the UCP Director API Reference Guide for create and attach volume tosee UCP's storage port requirement and view the example.

While creating a server profile from the identity pool, UCP Director does not checkif an identity is already in use.

When creating a server profile by using identities such as UUID, MAC address, WWNN,WWPNand IP address, UCP Director does not check if the randomly selected resource is already in use.Though the probability of the same address being selected is low, this has been seenoccasionally. As a result, when the server profile is applied, it fails with an error message that theidentity is in use by other server.

Workaround: Delete the server profile with the duplicate identity

Cannot reuse service templates with formatted volumes

When creating a new service template, UCP allows creation of raw or formatted volumes whichcan be attached as a part of the apply service template workflow. Once this service template isdeployed, in case the same service template is redeployed, though the OS deployment succeeds,the volume provisioning will fail due to conflicting names for formatted volumes, causing theapply service template job to fail.

Workaround: Re create formatted disks with unique name and attach them to the deployedhosts.

UCP log generation feature cannot handle invalid windows file name for log bundle

The UCP log bundle generation feature does not verify invalid file names such as CON, PRN, AUX,NUL, COM1 - 9, LPT1 - 9

Workaround: Use valid windows file name for log bundle

Removing HUR replication group sometimes fails to remove journal

Removing replication group or replicated volume pair on HUR sometimes fails with error that"Cannot delete journal {journalId} since the journal is being used for replication".

Workaround: Follow these steps to manually remove the journal volumes:
