Custom shelving solution for Kurt Geiger’s concept stores

Page 5: Unibox
Page 6: Unibox

Up against a very tight deadline, and some difficult technical challenges, we were sent a brief, which incorporated rendered visuals

and a rough store layout.

Concept

Page 7: Unibox

We prototyped all of the various elements needed, including custom extrusion manufacture, bending/rolling,

and LED illumination.

Prototype

Page 8: Unibox

With the shelving assembled in an entirely bespoke way, we also worked closely with the shop fitting team to

confirm they had everything they needed to ensure an easy installation.

The Unibox solution included: 3D CAD renderings, prototyping, custom extrusion manufacture, LED

illumination and installation support.

Self-Service Account Opening Kiosks for Barclays Branches nationwide

Retail design agency, Start Judge Gill, were tasked with developing a new addition to the store, “Self Service Account Opening” areas. After creating visual concepts, SJG turned to Unibox for assistance

in turning their concepts into a reality.

Because of our extensive experience in retail display, and in-house capabilities, we were able to quickly produce a concept unit that

was installed into Barclays HQ, Canary Wharf.

Concept

Page 14: Unibox

The concept incorporated multiple bespoke solutions, notably new product, “Kontour” - integrated

illuminated lettering, which was laser cut and mounted through an Oak panel onto laser etched

light guide plates.

he unit also included a ‘Barclays blue’ pantone-matched lighting halo, produced in conjunction with Lumenal, our specialist LED lighting sister company.

Our slimmest lighting profile, MIRA, was customised to include coloured gel, bonded to the reverse of a

light diffuser to create the blue halo effect.

Process

Page 15: Unibox

Passing through 3 iterations, gaining credit from Directors & customers alike, the Self Service unit has been installed into 50

stores and counting, rolling out to the majority of branches in 2016.

Dalziel and Pow approached Unibox to bring their creative

concepts to life, because of our knowledge of integrating light into aluminium profile structures, and our unique design expertise.

Working in collaboration with the Dalziel and Pow design team, we met, and discussed what was needed to make their vision

technically possible. This included deploying our design team for technical visualisation and prototyping, in addition developing the

necessary connections to assemble the structure on site.

Concept

Page 20: Unibox

Coming up with a number of solutions, these technical plans and prototypes were then

presented to Dalziel and Pow and Primark, and a preferred option was chosen.

Prototype

Page 21: Unibox

We sent a project manager and a five-strong team to assemble the lights in a factory close to the

Primark Madrid store, demonstrating not only the level of expertise needed to complete this job, but

also our commitment to our client, from brief to completion.

Multiyork’s visual merchandising team had seen and loved the Unibox Sol modular display system, which led to multiple sketches being created for

ares throughout new store layouts.

Page 37: Unibox
Page 38: Unibox

River Island required a new shelving solution, that allowed shop staff to refresh product

displays quickly and easily in line with changing promotions and seasonality.

Using our in-house manufacturing capabilities, we initially began developing concepts and assessing

their technical viability.

Concept

Page 39: Unibox

Running off a flexible track system, Kontakt was developed to allow power to flow in

either direction across the LEDs. This meant that shelves could be moved and products

merchandised in a far less regimented way than ever before.

With powder coat based technology to give the perfect level of insulation, the result was elegance

of design, without bulky plastic extrusions.

Using specialist alloy brackets to allow maximum current into the electrical cables and luminaires, as well as being superconductive, Kontakt was

also designed to support heavy products.

Integrated LED Lightbox displays throughout River Island’s new format stores

Page 43: Unibox
Page 44: Unibox

Over the past 4 years, Unibox have partnered with River Island to roll out LED Lightboxes across

their entire store estate.

Involved from the very start, contributing to product design, development and prototyping,

our knowledge of integrating lighting into aluminium profile structures, and our unique

design expertise, made Unibox the perfect fit for this project.

Concept

Page 45: Unibox

The final solution included three-meter high wall mounted lightboxes, and ceiling

mounted lightbox archways.

As part of this project, we developed bespoke right angles, with the strength to maintain perfect 90-degree angles

throughout the turn. In addition, due to the large dimensions of the lightboxes, to create

the necessary archways we prototyped suspension cables and illumination

techniques.

LED neonist signage for Gail’s & Pinkmans Bakeries via Holland Harvey Architects

Page 49: Unibox
Page 50: Unibox

Following Holland Harvey’s appointment by Gail’s Bakeries, its designer got in touch with Unibox to share a concept image of a neon sign, made up of vivid white neon lettering in

a simple font.

Having previously seen Neonist in our studio, Holland Harvey was keen to recreate this design using our low voltage alternative.

Concept

Helping Holland Harvey bring its creative concepts to life, we created technical

drawings, prototype designs, and custom manufacturing techniques to create this

unique signage display.

NEW Kinetik

Page 73: Unibox

Kinetik

Somewhere between a lightbox and a large-format video screen, Kinetik augments the tension graphic system with RGB LEDs, allowing a high resolution printed graphic to

be combined with dynamic animation or variable colour backlighting.

Each LED represents a pixel, in the same way a TV screen is made up of pixels. These pixels are 10mm apart and are designed to be used in large format. The LEDs, specific to Kinetik, are programmed to create a digital texture,

which can be used as a backdrop to an interior or promotional space.

Recognising that brands increasingly want to promote products in a less static way to attract consumer attention - but often don’t have the budget to incorporate screens or LCD technology - Kinetik can be used both subtly and to

dramatic effect.
