Organization Setting and Reporting

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-Habitat, is the United Nations

agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promotesocially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing

adequate shelter for all. This post is located in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran, under

the UN-Habitat Tehran Disaster Mitigation Office.

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Chief of the UN-Habitat Disaster Mitigation Office in Tehran,

I.R. of Iran, the intern will practice and learn to:1. Coordinate the activities of the component A and B of the office mandate defined

as Sustainable Disaster Risk Mitigation and Enforcement of Building Codes inaccordance with the orientations and guidelines, and in agreement with UN-Habitat Disaster Mitigation Office in Tehran, I.R. of Iran.

2. Coordinate delivery of products and services with the implementing partners.3. Coordinate and give substantive support in the design of the methodology, the

coordination of the activities on site, and the reporting process.4. Compile, analyze, summarize and present basic information/data on the

component activities.

5. Prepare bid and contract documents for the consultancy services and works

contracts about the reconstruction, rehabilitation and renovation of buildings andlifelines

6. Review seismic strengthening designs provided by external intuitions andconsultants and provide construction management and technical consultancy

7. Contribute to timely and effective project implementation from technical point ofview; provide structural data for monitoring and evaluation purposes.

8. Data collection, analysis and draft report writing,9. Collating, crosschecking and editing draft reports and sending for international

review.10. Undertake other duties as assigned by the UN-Habitat DMO office.
