Next year we are celebrating 750 anniversary of the foundation by the Czech king Pemysl Otakar II in 1265. They claim on the official websites, that everybody would like to live in esk Budjovice. • I can recommend you sitting in a cafe in the unique square, of the size of 1 ha. You can admire the neat Renassaince and Barogue arcade houses fringing the square. The square boasts of the Baroque Samsons Fountain topped by a statue of Samson. The renaissanceis town hall with unique chimes chanting every hour was nicely reconstructed. But theres much more to see. For example the Black Tower in the close neighbourhood. It used to be a watch tower, however, now it is just a tourist attraction. You can climb up 225 stairs to have a breathtaking view of the whole city.
  • Slide 4
  • I cant forget to invite you to Masn krmy. The typical Czech cuisine is served in this medieval restaurant. You should try to order Budweiser Beer, which is brewed right in our city.

  • esk Krumlov I dare to say that esk Krumlov is one of the most visited places in the Czech Republic. People come here to be amazed by the historical town which was built in 13th century. It spreads on the banks of the river Vltava meandering down the town and creating unrepeatable breathtaking sceneries. The dominance of the town is Krumlov Castle which protrudes above the river and its accounted for the second biggest castle in the country. But thats not all,you can find there also a historical brewery, gothic cathedral in the centre of the town or a unique revolving theatre. In the past the medieval town profited from the local graphite mine and the tourists can visit it even in the present.)They do not ine graphite there anymore) Two interesting facts for the end: firstly there was filmed an american movie Hostel Secondly - the castle is protected by a moat where real bears live! Visitors enjoy watching them esspecially at the time of feeding and mating.

  • Hlubok nad Vltavou Hlubok nad Vltavou is a town near esk Budjovice in South - Bohemian Region. It spreads on the hill above both sides of the Vltava River. Even if this small town has a population of 5,000 people, it can pride itself on three castles.
  • Slide 9
  • Hlubok nad Vltavou Castle was founded in 13th centrury. Within the history this magnificent Romantic - Gothic Castle was three times rebuilt. The last reconstruction was inspired by the Royal Castle of Windsor in England. In the interior the visitors admire unique carvings, which were maded by local craftsmen. There are also rich collections of paintings, furniture and dishes and this is the reason, why the castle interior belongs to the richest in the Czech Republic.

  • The castle is surrounded by a castle garden in French style and by a castle park in English style. French style means everything is exactly symmetric. Neat sandy paths wind between ornamental beds. On the contrary the English park resembles wild nature, where symmetry is unnatural.

  • During the day, many tourists join castle tours and in summer evenings the castle court turns into the venue for Summer Theatre Musical Festival. It was a pleasure for me to star in company in Casanova musical last two summers.

  • The former riding-hall was transformed into a picture- gallery. It was named Alova South-Bohemian Gallery to honour one of the most famous southbohemian artists.
  • Slide 14
  • In the close neighbourhood of the castle there is a small mansion called tekl, which was turned into the grandest hotels in South-Bohemian Region. Originally, servants of Schwarzenberg Dynasty were accommodate there.
  • Slide 15
  • The dominant of a tiny square is a beuatiful Neo Gothic church.

  • Prague Prague is the capital city of the Czech Republic and it's one of the most beautiful European cities.Let's talk about the most visited places and monuments in Prague. I think everyone knows the famous Charles Bridge over the Vltava River. When you're walking along don't forget to view the sand statues framing the bridge on both sides.
  • Slide 19
  • One of the most beautiful historical and cultural monuments in Prague is the National Theatre where you can admire its richely decorated interiors as well as enjoy watching a play, ballet or opera. On the hill above the Vltava River stands Prague Castle. It's the seat of our president. In the premises of Prague Castle you can discover the beauty of St.Vithus Cathedral. This gothic cathedral with stunning stained- glass windows houses tombs of many Bohemian kings. This all is the reason why the visit here is unforgetable.

  • Every hour crowds of tourists gather in the histotical Old Town Square to watch the unique 600-year old Astronomical clock built in the tower of the Old Town Hall. Despite its age it still works. Prague Jewish Town attracts loads of tourists tracing the mysteries of the Old Synagogue from the 12 th century.

  • However, not only historical monuments are worth seeing in Prague. The modern building called Dancing House will provoke your imagination.Do you know why the building is called Dancing House? Actually, if you look at the building it seems as if it danced. Unfortunately, there isn't any dancing school inside but only offices.

  • The Tugendhat Villa in Brno Brno is the second largest city in the Czech Republic in West Bohemia. One of the UNESCO monuments which makes Brno famous is named Tugendhat Villa. This villa was designed for Greta and Fritz Tugendhat in 1928. Its construction was completed in 1930. The modern building was designed by the significant German architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. He became famous for building gorgeous skyscapers and offices in Chicago, too. He nicknamed his architecture skin and bones. Two years ago this villa and the surrounding garden were reconstructed and its equipment restored. Now it looks the same as in 1930. In the basement there are technical amenities (for example a unique air conditioning and a boiler room). The first floor contains a lounge with a conservatory and a terrace (place where the whole family were relaxing), a white kitchen full of the most important dishes and rooms for the staff. On the second floor there is the front door which opens a passage to the terrace, rooms for parents, children and their nanny. The villa soon became an icon of modernism for its simple and practical design offering the owners much comfort.

That is the reason, why it has been inscribed in World Heritage List. The village itself was established in the 13 th century (probably in 1292), but at this time it didnt look the way as it looks in the present. It has changed throughout the history. In Holaovice there live only about 140 inhabitants. The villagers live there an ordinary life and they are not much affected by the fame of this place. In this village there are 120 buildings and 23 of them are historically protected. Around Holaovice there are more remarkable buildings which are not registered as culture sights, for instance the former school, which is used today as the information center.

  • Kutn Hora We dont have a special English name for this medieval town, but for example in German it is Kuttenberg as it used to be a German town. The first mention of this town comes from the 13 century. It is located not far from Prague and there used to be large silver mines. They brought the Down fame and wealth. The Gothic St. Barbara Cathedral has graced this town for over 600 years.
  • Slide 32
  • It is also known as the Temple of Light. Thats because of the massive Gothic stained-glass windows making a play of light. Both the cathedrals are outsider as well as imide richly decorated. Cathedral Nanebevzet panny Marie

  • Another interresting place in this town is so called Kostnice. It is a part of a church and cemetary complex. People who like scary moments should definitely visit this underground chapel where bones of dead people were stored after the old cemetery

  • Lednice-Valtice Area The microregion Lednice-Valtice area is located in South Moravia, the ancient principality of the Lichtensteins. The Lichtensteins were and old Austrian dinasty. They inherited the castle Lednice in 1249. They really cared about their new home and in the following two centuries they brought their domains to perfection. Which is confirmed by the fact that the whole Lichtenstein principality was inscribed in UNESCOs World Cultural Heritage list in 1996. It was actually a large park surrounding Chateau Lednice, which was their favourite. They treated carefully the unique park surronding the Chateau. In 19th century the park became a location of other architectural jewels such as the Minaret, Jans castle, Riding-hall and the beatiful Church. Chateau Valtice, which also belongs to the ancient principality, became a part of the Lichtensteins property in 1387. The Lichtensteins built also some copies of ancient Roman monuments like a sculpture of Three Graces, Appolos Temple, Aqueduct or Belveder. And what is also very interesting, the interrier of the Chateau Lednice is very renown and popular. The Lichtenstein family cared about their comfort, and they loved art. All the rooms are furnished very spectaculary but still tastefully. The furniture is really expensive and the paintings on the walls are very impressive. People come from all around the world to see the interrier and enjoy the romantic atmosphere of this almost magical place.
