The Greatest Danger to America's Youth
UNESCO is the most powerful of the. United Nations' instruments for establishing
the forced uniformity of mankind. UNESCOis unseen, deadly, and everywhere. Amongthe dangers that confront fteemen today,UNESCO is unique because:(1) It is so vast in its aims, channels of oper-
ation, publications, and agencies ...(2) It uses every means of communication
through which the thinking of mankindis influenced ...
{3) Its method of attacking freedom is sodiffused and ~nfamiliar ...
(4) I t presents, above any other present orga-nization, the grav~t danger to freemen ..
{5) If!cluding all of the years of alphabeticalFederal Bureaucracy, Pentagon channels, and United Nations' agencies, sub- agen-cies, affiliated agencies, panels, commit-tees, conferences and commissions-UNESCO is the 71lDst bewildering orga-ni::ation ever conceived.
UNESCO (United Nations Educational,Scientific and Cultural Organization) is aspecialized agency of the Economic and SocialCouncil which, in turn, operates under theAssembly of the United Nations which, in turn, function.s under the Charter of the United Na-tions which, in turn, supersedes OUf own Con-stitution and-because we signed it as a treaty-is now the supreme law of the United States.
Headquarters in Eul"OpeUNESCO'S world-wide headquarters is in
Paris. UNESCO·S American headquarters is inWashington, D.C. and is called the U.S.National Commission for UNESCO. ThisCommission is made up of sixty representa-tives of national organizations and forty directappointees of the State Department. From
this Commission UN ESCO'S program is chan-. neled into local communities through myriad
organizations, committees, and panels which,in turn, channel it to Teach you and yoorchildren from every direction- from philan-thropical societies, churches, radio, television, theatre, newspapers, magazines, motion pic-tures, schools, school organizations, civicgroups, government agencies, etc.
There is no possible way to give or to gaina quick knowledge of this octopus-like organ[;::atinn of UNESCO with its thousands of pub-lications, areas of operation and channels ofpropaganda. It is too vast and unwieldy to besummarized with briefness or clarity. So thework of reading and l~'tening and dis.::>veringand understanding must be yours. But thereis a guide, a simple guide, which will carryyou safely and unerringly through the intri-cate maze of UNESCO, and the explanationof that guide is the purpose of this paper.
UNESCO Thrives on ConfusionlVe Americans are confused about the na-
ture of the whole danger which surrounds ustoday. We don't seem really to know what it is
J ,
or where it is. No two Americans will give youthe same answer. At least fifty per cent of mIT
danger is due to this coniusion about it, be-because what we don't understand we cannotfight. Through lack of understanding we areeven apt to aid something that we mean toresist. The churches are a tragic example ofthis. Almost even' minister in the world wouldtell you, and with sincere honesty, that he con-siders Communism the greatest present enemyof religion and he resists it in eyer)' possibleway. And vet rnanv of ·these same ministersunknowingly aid Communism every day oftheir lives. The same thing is true of the peo- .
