What does Move Update entail?
Periodic matching of your name/address records to USPS®
Change-of-Address (COA) orders
The requirement is met only by „updating‟ the address, not just by doing the process

What is included in Move Update?
Each address in a mailing is subject to Move Update
Exception: Mail pieces using Alternative Address Format are not subject to Move Update
“Jane Doe or Current Resident”
“Occupant”
Updated addresses on mail pieces at one class of mail are qualified to be used for other classes during current Move Update cycle of 95 days

For any bulk mailings since November 23, 2008 you are required to comply with move update standards
Enforcement of this rule is in effect for First Class Mail
Back-end auditing is being done to those who have been flagged that they have received a significant amount of returned mail
January 4th 2010 enforcement will apply to all First Class and Standard Mail
Merlin will be used pre-mailing to determine compliance

Matching options
Individual - Match on first name, last name and address regardless of the move type
Standard - For individual moves, match on first name, last name and address; for family moves, match on last name and address
Average NCOALink match rates are 4% to 5%
The NCOALink database is updated every week
In-the-mail tests by clients have shown the response of an NCOALink new address versus the old address is about 400% greater
