involved1in1my1education1in1the1psychology1departnment1has1done1for1me1throughout1my1time1at1Duquesne1University.11This1will1definitely1be1a1part1of1my1life1that1I1will1

never1forget.

The1Senior1Integrative1Project1course1is1a1complete1waste1of1time.11We1do1all1this1work1throughout1the1semester1only1to1have1just1ONE1of1our1portfolios1selected1for1review.11

The1rest1will1be1wasted.11We1should1be1able1to1take1a1different1psychology1course1where1we1can1actually1learn1something1isntead1of1having1this1time1filled1of1by1this1waste1of1

time.11Duquesne1has1a1great1psychology1program,1but1this1is1frankly1a1blemish1on1the1psychology1program.11You1need1to1think1of1a1different1way1to1assess1if1you're1meeting1

your1goals1or1not1instead1of1having1students1waste1their1time1when1they1could1be1studying1for1real1courses.

Have1professors1follow1a1strictor1guideline1for1teaching.1My1professors1were1all1over1the1place1when1it1came1to1teaching1and1several1ended1up1talking1about1the1same1thing1

every1week.1I1was1disappointed1with1Psychology1of1Personality.1It1was1a1class1that1I1was1most1excited1to1take1and1I1never1learned1anything1about1personality.1A1structured1

teaching1guideline1may1help1younger1students1actually1learn1what1the1class1is1supposed1to1be1about.

My1concern1is1that1I1had1to1actively1pursue1and1seek1out1professors1to1help1me.1I1am1ambitious1and1that1made1me1seek1out1professors.1If1the1psychology1department1had1a1

program1where1students1were1assigned1a1mentor1and1it1was1made1mandatory,1students1would1have1more1direction1and1goal1in1their1senior1year.

Dr.1Koelsch1was1a1really1understanding1professor.1I1feel1I1gained1a1lot1from1this1class1and1the1intro1to1psychology1one1credit1course1that1I1took1with1her.1She1is1very1

knowledgeable1and1helpful

Provide1more1courses1that1have1content.1Review1the1history1of1psychology1in1depth.1Provide1more1funding1for1research1endeavours.

I1would1be1devastated1if1the1psychology1department1ever1did1away1with1the1neuropsychology1courses.1This1class1not1only1helped1me1as1a1precursor1for1Abnormal1Psychology,1

but1also1made1learning1about1the1brain1in1Anatomy1&1Physiology1I1and1II1(which1are1the1hardest1courses1I've1ever1taken)1seem1so1easy.1I1haven't1had1a1single1psychology1

professor1who1I1did1not1like.1The1genuine1enthusiasm1for1the1subject1is1what1made1this1such1a1great1undergraduate1degree1for1me.1Even1though1I1will1not1go1on1to1be1in1the1

psychology1field,1I1would1never1take1back1the1experiences1and1knowledge1I1have1gained.

I1feel1as1if1the1psychology1major1did1a1good1job1preparing1me1for1what1is1to1come1in1the1future,1and1this1was1really1made1clear1to1me1in1this1class1because1it1showed1me1how1

everything1really1came1full1circle.11However,1I1do1think1that1the1internship1and1volunteer1experience1opportunities1were1slightly1lacking.11Overall1I1am1happy1with1my1decision1

to1study1this1major1at1Duquesne.1

The1language1requirement1is1awful.

I1appreciate1the1help1received1by1Dr.1Leswin,1Dr.1Koelsch,1Dr.1Walsh,1Dr.1Goldberg,1Dr.1Kranjec,1Dr.1Adams,1and1Dr.1Gemignani.1I1felt1comfortable1reaching1out1to1them1for1

advise1and1assistance1throughtout1my1senior1year1for1graduate1school1applications.

The1Duquesne1University1Psychology1Department1has1played1a1huge1role1in1shaping1who1I1have1become1these1past1few1years,1for1the1better.

Hopefully1this1is1already1in1the1process1of1changing,1but1there1are1certain1class1requirements1for1the1degree1that1are1rarely1offered.1I1know1there1is1one1section1where1a1

student1has1to1take111out1of1the141classes1offered1but1only111of1those1courses1is1offered1regularly.1It1seems1a1little1ridiculous1to1offer1an1option1is1there1really1isn't1one.

It1has1been1a1great1experience,1and1I'm1truly1appreciative!

I1think1that1the1Psychology1program1prepares1students1for1both1psych1jobs/grad1school,1and1non1psych1related1jobs/grad1school

Ways1to1achieve1experience1besides1working1at1Western1Psych1is1my1only1suggestion.1It1is1hard1to1get1a1job1without1having1at1least121years1of1experince.1I1was1so1grateful1that1

I1found1a1psych1related1job1that1did1not1need121years.1Maybe1make1requirement1for1internship1or1something1or1have1connections1to1gain1that1experience.

not1everyone1who1comes1to1school1with1a1psychology1major1necessarily1wants1a1career1in1psychology.1many1people1come1in1for1medical1school,1occupational1therapy,1etc1

that1is1not1psychology1related.1it1would1be1nice1to1get1more1information1on1other1graduate1schools.

Please1expand1on1diversity1related1courses.

i1honestly1enjoyed1alot1of1my1teachers,1but1i1feel1like1im1no1closer1to1understanding1psychology1on1a1deeper1level1than1when1i1first1came1here

I1enjoyed1my1education1here1at1Duquesne.11I1personally1think1Cultural1Diversity,1Practicum,1and1Psych1Disorders1as1I1have1mentioned1should1be1required1over1this1class.11

Senior1Integrative1Project1should1be1done1away1with1or1an1online1course1to1be1honest.11I1would1also1like1to1see1more1ethical1based1topics1brought1up1in1the1psychology1

department.

I1beleive1that1the1classes1need1a1little1more1structure1in1them,1too1much1of1my1time1in1the1classroom1was1spent1on1talking1about1personal1strories1on1the1students1in1the1

class.1I1understand1it1is1important1to1reach1a1personal1level1in1the1class,1but1it1is1frustrating1when1I1am1not1learning1the1material1that1is1on1the1exams1because1of1this.

Rework1the1department1to1allow1students1the1ability1to1actually1get1experience1in1whatever1field.11Work1with1more1companies1for1placement.11Work1with1Kranjec1and1others1

to1give1students1more1research1oppurtunties.11One1semester1is1barely1enough1time1for1any1research

Have1a1mandatory1meeting1for1juniors1to1share1their1career1or1grad1school1goals1so1that1they1can1start1working1on1it1before1they1get1to1senior1year1and1start1panicking1for1lack1

of1time.

I1would1like1to1see1more1psychotherapy_based1courses1for1undergraduates.
