Miami Dade College – Wolfson Campus ARCOS Program Undergraduate Research and Project Opportunities (URPO) Overview The ARCOS Undergraduate Research and Project Opportunity (URPO) program was created to broaden students’ knowledge in their chosen fields, enrich their undergraduate experience, and offer them the opportunity to acquire research experience early in their careers. This program offers MDC-Wolfson campus students majoring in fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) the opportunity to work one-on-one with an MDC faculty on available research/projects. Interested students have to submit a complete application to the ARCOS program by the announced deadline. Selected students who successfully complete program requirements have the opportunity to receive a stipend for the equivalent of $100 per month for up to $800 within an academic year. Participant Responsibilities Selected candidates are required to fulfill the following: Engage in research/project activities during the fall and spring terms Complete designated URPO training workshop Work under the guidelines of designated faculty Dedicate 5-10 hours per week for the research/project. Based on the research/project, faculty will determine the exact number of hours within the aforementioned range Meet for a minimum of three times per term with designated student URPO group Complete a properly formatted research poster to be presented at the Annual STEM Exhibition and/or Annual Science Symposium When appropriate, provide an oral presentation of research findings at a designated locale Eligibility URPO candidates must meet the following requirements to be considered: Enrolled at MDC Wolfson Campus for a minimum of six credit hours for both fall and spring terms Have declared a STEM (science, technology, engineering or math) related major or pathway Completion of at least two semesters for a total of 24 credit hours. Undergraduate Research and Project Opportunities (URPO)

Overview

The ARCOS Undergraduate Research and Project Opportunity (URPO) program was created to broaden

students’ knowledge in their chosen fields, enrich their undergraduate experience, and offer them the

opportunity to acquire research experience early in their careers. This program offers MDC-Wolfson
