“Considering that London is the hub of fun activities and the centre of major markets, it would be an understatement to say that I was thrilled when I found out its proximity to Luton and how easy it is to access from here!”China MereginiBSc (Hons) Nursing Studies student

Luton offers a winning combination of urban buildings, natural open spaces and landscaped parks. A short walk from campus will bring you to the town centre and the Mall. There's also a cinema close by. And watch out for the famous Luton International Carnival – the largest one day carnival in the UK! The Luton campus has excellent transport links; with regular trains to London, and our campus is only three miles from London Luton Airport.

Bedford is an idyllic riverside town. It’s student friendly, with a lively mix of traditional town pubs, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, shops and heritage, in addition to first-class sports facilities. When you’re not hard at work there is loads to do.

We also boast campuses in the Buckinghamshire towns of Aylesbury and Milton Keynes. Milton Keynes is home to our newest campus location, and is a modern, bustling ‘new city,’ fusing urban appeal and old country charm. From art exhibitions, musicals and canal-side promenades to skiing, wall-climbing, water sports and outdoor events, MK has something for everyone.

Live near London, without the Capital costs...The bright lights of the UK’s Capital are only a 30 minute train journey from Luton, and a 40 minute journey from Bedford. The lower cost of living in Bedfordshire means you can treat yourself to the best of what London has to offer:

Bedford

In 2015, a brand new, three-storey building was opened at the Bedford campus. The Gateway is a new facility that offers our students a number of high-quality teaching spaces, as well as informal learning spaces, lecture theatres and a new student services centre – everything you could need, all under one roof.

This follows a multi-million pound investment to refurbish our sports hall to bring the facilities up to national championship standards. Following its re-opening in 2013, the new sports hall not only provides a great facility for our sports students, but also plays host to a number of national and international level sporting events.

Luton

By 2016, the Luton campus will boast a brand new seven storey library; one of a kind in the UK. The new library will house 530 PCs, in addition to a range of study spaces for group working, and practice presentation rooms, all with one thing in mind; to provide you with the very best environment in which to learn.

This follows major investment in state-of-the-art psychology facilities, a new art and design building, and en-suite accommodation at our Luton campus. And all of this is in addition to our many first-rate resources and industry-standard facilities offered across our campuses, including pioneering Business Pods and a Law Moot Court.

Our research gets to the root of the matter. We're increasing understanding of cyber security and online risk with our research into child sexual exploitation and we received a Queen's Anniversary Prize for Further and Higher Education for this research.

We break new ground with our use of digital technology to redefine dance practice and enhance the publication of books. Our research into tourism and environmental science is regenerating and developing communities, and helping to protect coral reefs against climate change.

We analyse how businesses can use big data to greater advantage, and lead on ways to grow businesses from the ground up.

We're leading the way in work to benefit international exam boards, and are striving to improve the quality of special needs education. All of this is happening along our work to improve coaching for elite sport performance, and quality of care for the elderly.

how to appLyTo ensure your application process runs smoothly we have put together this simple, step-by-step guide to help you.

to find out more visit: www.ucas.com

24

Page 25: Undergraduate Prospectus 2016 - Mini guide

Do as much research as possible – search for courses on UCAS, send off for prospectuses, check out websites, look at course entry requirements and attend Higher Education Fairs and Open Days. For a list of our upcoming Open Days, see page 3 or visit: unibeds.info/ug-visit

Now it’s the time to make a firm and insurance choice – the firm should be the institution where you want to go, and the insurance is the second choice in case you don’t meet the requirements of your firm choice.

Done your research? Ready to fill in your application form?

Then go to www.ucas.com and choose up to five universities.

For help with filling out your application form, visit: unibeds.info/ug-handyhints

Once you have decided which university you want to go to, you can apply for a place in student halls or private housing.

At Bedfordshire we aim to help all first year students find suitable accommodation – more info at: unibeds.info/ug-accommodation

You may receive Unconditional offers if you have already met the criteria for your chosen course, or Conditional offers (on the condition that you meet the criteria required) from the universities you have applied to. The earlier you send in your application, the more likely it is that you will receive your decision earlier.

Time to receive your exam results and to see if your place is confirmed by your firm choice (if you’ve met all the conditions of this choice) or insurance choice, via UCAS Track online. If you haven’t met all the conditions of your firm or insurance choices, don’t worry there are other options available through clearing. Call Admissions for advice on: 0800 013 0925

There is lots of financial support available so don’t delay making your application at: www.gov.uk/student-finance

For information on the generous financial support we offer at Bedfordshire, visit:unibeds.info/ug-money

Once you’ve secured your place, you can begin planning for the exciting new life-changing experience of starting university.

You’ll need to consider finances and accommodation plus travel, books, bedding, and most importantly induction and registration dates. Universities should send you all this information as soon as your place is confirmed.
