Purpose:Deployment of disaster management experts to assist the United Nations and affected Governments with:• Immediate post disaster needs assessment • Coordination of incoming International assistance• Establishment of adequate information management systems• Provision of required expertise

UNDAC  Workplan 2015 ‐17UNDAC system as a robust, interoperable, rapid response and capacity development tool capable of strengthening OCHA’s response to crises and national and regional preparedness for emergency response:

1. Systems: Readiness for rapid response deployment (within 24 to 48 hours) by the establishment of robust system and resource management

2. Methodology: Integration of the UNDAC system and methodologies into OCHA’s emergency response and preparedness mechanisms and regional and national strategies

3. Membership: an UNDAC team with the right size, competencies and skills to provide consistent, effective preparedness and responses to emergencies

4. Training and Capacity Building: The capacity to develop the skills and competencies of new and existing members through a consistent training approach

5. Emergency management networks and capacities: Strengthened global, regional and national emergency management networks and capacities to ensure coordinated and interoperable response capacities

Focus on Building national disaster management capacity (first respond)

Strengthen the communication and outreach within the Pacific region

Reinforce the agreement with current active the Governments

Consolidate existing team and embrace “new challenges”
