WHAT IS UNCONSCIOUS BIAS?
Unconscious Bias refers to the biases we all have of which we are not in conscious control. These biases occur automatically, triggered by our brain making quick judgments and assessments of people and situations based on our background, cultural environments and our experiences.
There is a substantial body of evidence that suggests not being aware of, and not controlling for, unconscious bias will regularly lead to poor decision-making and unfair outcomes.
OUR WORKSHOPS
To assist organisations in managing this complex area more effectively we deliver a range of highly interactive and entertaining workshops, which includes concrete action planning. Presented with great expertise, professionalism, humour and clarity, we bring to light elements of human nature which sometimes get in the way of doing good business.
Our unconscious bias workshops focus specifically upon personal attitudes towards cultural or personal differences. Central to our workshops, our audiences engage in a series of thought-provoking discussions and exercises that helps to reveal underlying personal biases that may have an impact upon an individual, team and organisational performance.
We also have a version of the workshop that brings contemporary diversity business challenges to life through the drama of forum theatre. While our actors play out roles, highlighting key inclusion issues, the audience is engaged in the problem-solving process and in helping the actors turn each scenario around to the benefit of all characters. The good news is that the audience members do not have to do any acting themselves. They can sit back comfortably and coach from the side-lines, as they take on the roles of directors and script writers. It is enormous fun and really gives people true insight and a chance to play around with solutions in real-time.
