PVC convergence based on tree-link PVC and group bandwidth management.4-level connections of downstream Node Bs, and up to 16 downstream Node Bs can be supported.
Hub Node B connects to the RNC through the STM-1 or E1. The cascaded Node Bs connect to hub Node B through the E1. This feature can provide the convergence gain and reduce the cost of transmission lines.
WRFD-050105 ATM Switching Based Hub Node B, available from RAN5.1.AAL Switch isn't for commercial use. Compared with ATM Switch, AAL is more complex and less efficient. The feature “WRFD-050106 AAL2 Switching Based Hub Node B” is not recommended for commercial use.

When the hub Node B transmission is applied, the RNC can be connected to more Node Bs with only one physical port. In this case, the RNC may send out data with a high bit rate, and if all the data is sending to one Node B, for example, Node B 3 in upper figure, congestion may happen at Node B 2 and data will be lost accordingly. all PVCs connected to one Node B are considered as one virtual port; if one Node B is a hub Node B, all PVCs connected to it and PVCs connected to its leaf Node Bs are considered as one virtual port only. The RNC monitors the buffer occupancy status of each virtual port to avoid data loss.

Fractional ATM Function on Iub Interface
This feature enables ATM cells to be transmitted on some timeslots of the E1/T1 bearer and other data to be transmitted on other timeslots. It applies to the scenario where 2G and 3G data is transmitted simultaneously.Benefits :Sharing of transmission links between 2G and 3G systems.Reduced time in market at initial rollout.Savings of transmission costs when co-site 2G and 3G.

Fractional IP Function on Iub Interface
WRFD-050411 Fractional IP Function on Iub Interface, available from RAN6.1
In fractional IP, IP packages are transmitted using some of the 32 E1 timeslots. IP packages are mapped to some of the E1 timeslots, instead of all of the timeslots. At the peer end, the IP package is recovered from these E1 timeslots. The timeslots that don’t use for IP package transmission can transmit other information.Benefits :Sharing of transmission links between 2G and 3G systems.Reduced initial rollout Time in market at.Savings on transmission costs when co-site 2G and 3G.

Hybrid Iub IP Transmission for Smooth Evolution
WRFD-050403 Hybrid Iub IP Transmission, available from RAN5.1, BTS3902E can’t support this feature
In hybrid mode, the real-time services such as voice and streaming data services are transported on IP over E1/STM-1, while non-real-time services such as interactive and background services are transported on IP over Ethernet. Iub user plane traffic and Iub NBAP signaling can be carried over hybrid networks on backup mode. When one path fails, all the new coming traffic is carried on another pathBenefits :This feature enables the transmission of real-time services and non-real-time services on different paths to meet the requirements of UMTS services, it could save OPEX on Iub transmission, especially when deploying HSDPA/HSUPA service.

ATM/IP Dual Stack Node B
WRFD-050404 ATM/IP Dual Stack Node B, available from RAN6.0, BTS3902E can’t support this feature
RNC can support IP Node B and ATM Node B simultaneously Node B can support ATM and IP dual protocol
Benefits :This feature helps protect operator’s investment and provide flexible networking, smooth upgrading from ATM transmission to IP transmission on Iub interface.

FP MUX for IP Transmission
Multi FPs been multiplexed to one IP, to reduce the packet header overload (MAC,UDP, IP
header) .FE bandwidth can be saved in case of Microwave FE , IP satellite , or MSTP etc. For voice, FP-MUX can increase efficiency about 40% .FP-MUX has not extra requirement for bearing network.

Dynamic Bandwidth Control of Iub IP
The principle of IP PM : One end sends FM (Forward Monitoring) message periodically, the other end echoes PM with BR (Backward Reporting) message as soon as it receives FM message.
Applied to the following networking scenarios1. ADSL and ADSL 2+2. IP traffic convergence
Based on Huawei PRIVATE protocol
With FM and BR, packet loss rate of link and jitter could be calculated accordingly, When the packet loss rate or jitter increases, the available bandwidth decreases. When the packet loss rate or jitter decreases, the available bandwidth is increases.

Negotiated UDP MUX port.
max 256 bytes
Example of multiplexed packet with two RTP frames
Problem: With IP introduction on Iu-CS interface, User Plane packets encapsulated within RTP/UDP/IP => for small packets transmission, overhead of header encapsulation reduces transport efficiency
Solution: UDP multiplexing (MUX) adds a shorter UDP MUX sub header to a packet than UDP and reduces proportion of header
Scenario: UDP MUX improves transport efficiency of short packets
BenefitsAccording to the quantity of the package multiplexed, the transport efficiency gain is up to 30% ~ 40%
