3 Welcome to UC Events

The UC Events and Conferencing centre is situated in the picturesque bush setting of the University of Canberra.

Located within a short distance of the Australian Institute of Sport, the Canberra Institute of Technology and the Belconnen Town Centre, the UC Events! Conference facilities are conveniently located in close proximity to public transport and within a 15 minute drive to the Canberra CBD.

With a number of venues facilitating guest capacity, from 10 people in boardroom-style to large events for up to 1700 guests, paired with superb in-house catering we are committed to ensuring your next event is a success.

UC Events and Conferencing Is a division of the University of Canberra Union.

UCU Ltd. provides a number of services to the UC community, enriching the lives of our students, staff and visitors. UCU Ltd delivers an extensive fitness program via UC Fit, a star line up of entertainment throughout the year via UC Life!, scrumptious on campus eateries via UC Eat! And tonnes of activities via UC Events!

UCU Ltd is also a strong advocate of the “UC Bottle Free” initiative. Announced in February 2011, the University of Canberra is the first Australian University to ban bottled water sales on-campus. World Water Day 2011 marked the end of bottled water sales within all UCU outlets.

As of November 2016, the University of Canberra has made the commitment to be completely tobacco-free, with the aim to improve the health and wellbeing of students, staff and visitors. UCU is in full support of advocating this policy with all events held at UCU Venues to be tobacco-free.

4 Venues | Anne Harding Conference Centre

Designed by Alistair Swain and opened in September 2010, the Ann Harding Centre is the first education building in the ACT to be certified as a 5 Star - Green Star Building; featuring solar panels, rainwater tanks and an energy efficient design.

The centre features an open light filled entry foyer, 250 seat flat floor auditorium and adjacent seminar rooms all equipped with state of the art audio visual technology. Surrounding a large landscaped courtyard, the centre enjoys an abundance of external views and natural light providing a welcome outdoor breakout area for conference guests.

The Ann Harding Centre makes an ideal venue for conferences, seminars, weddings and presentations, accommodating groups of 10 to 200.

Ann Harding FoyerAvailable for hire for individual events or combined with the Conference Room for a breakout space for catering.

With large glass walls, the Foyer is awash with natural light and equipped with speakers, this space is perfect for launches and cocktail events.

The room features natural light, external views to the large landscaped courtyard and state of the art audio visual technology.

The venue hire includes:

• Dual screen projectors, with the option for split screen projection

• Fixed computer with DVD facilities

• Lectern microphone, along with 4 wireless roving microphones and 2 wireless lapel microphones

• Free Wi-Fi for all of your guests

• Automated lighting and blinds

When booked with the adjacent foyer space, this room can make the perfect presentation area with the foyer acting as a cocktail reception for pre or post drinks and canapes.

The Conference Room is the perfect venue for your next conference, gala dinner or presentation.

8 Venues | The Refectory

Recipient of a multimillion dollar upgrade in 2010, the Refectory boasts light filled, open spaces suitable for any large function. The spaciousness of this venue allows for a multitude of room set ups, including formal dining or exhibition booths.

Conveniently located nearby the primary UCU kitchen, and with service bars in situ, the Refectory is the perfect location for larger catered events.

From elegant balls to trade shows and rock concerts, the UC Refectory provides the perfect backdrop for events on a grand scale.

9 Venues | Lecture and Tutorial Rooms

When not being utilised for teaching purposes, the University of Canberra’s extensive array of lecture theatres and tutorial rooms may be booked by external users.

With 100 rooms to choose from and capacities ranging from 20 to 364, these venues are ideal for training sessions, public lectures and presentations.

A special piece of the University of Canberra history, as implied by name, The Boiler House was once the primary mechanical provider of heating for all University buildings. Decommissioned in 1991 it was later converted to the largest lecture theatre on campus.

The industrial character of the original building has remained the heart of the redesign but with new additions to create a deliberate contrast, this building is a wonderful piece of campus history and a superb example of building reuse.

Featuring rake style seating for 539, the building provides an ideal venue for lectures and forums.

10 Accommodation | Anne Harding Apartments

Get the full experience - stay on campus.

Adjacent to the Ann Harding Conference Centre are four self-contained apartments, which make for ideal accommodation for your special presenters or VIP guests. They are available for overnight stays and long term accommodation.

Each apartment features a queen sized bed, bathroom, kitchen, lounge and dining area, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryers , iron and ironing board.

Audio Visual EquipmentIn addition to the standard in house equipment, UC Events and Conferencing offers access to hire various audio visual equipment and teaching aids. These include:

• PA systems including microphone and speakers

• Data projectors and screens in various sizes.

• TVs

• Lectern

• Whiteboards

Setup and delivery is inclusive in the hire cost. Weekend and public holiday surcharges apply.

Should your event require equipment not listed, please contact the Events & Conferencing Coordinator who may be able to source such equipment at a competitive rate from one our preferred providers.

Event or Concert Staging For events located in the Refectory and across campus we have various sized staging available to suit your requirements.

Sizing options range from 2 x 2 metres through to 10 x 6 metres.

Various height options are available, with stairs and railings included.
