Dear students, colleagues and friends from our fellow FOBISIA schools,

I am delighted to formally welcome you to the FOBISIA under 13 games here at The British School of Beijing (BSB), Shunyi! We really enjoy hosting sports tournaments here and having you join us, and it is a genuine honour to have you here for the event. BSB has been in Beijing for 12 years now, and we all speak openly of the ‘BSB family’ and the very warm welcome we like to give everyone who comes into our school – we are therefore very pleased to invite you into our family for just a few days in 2017!

One of the huge benefits of being in an international school is the chance to make contacts and deep friendships across the world, which come about through the links we make during our inter-school events as well as in our own schools. That is the reason why we at BSB are so committed to these links, and we know that, in making the effort to come to Beijing, you are equally committed. Sport, in particular, has the power to create friendship and understanding in a way that almost nothing else can match, and I invite you to take up that spirit, in an atmosphere of intense but fair and friendly competition, as you compete in all the various FOBISIA events. I know we will see all the excellent FOBISIA players approach the game in the way we all expect – passionate commitment to win but total respect for others. I hope you also make many new friends through your participation, and go back to your own schools with happy memories and new skills to help you develop.

My thanks go to our team, but also your own teachers, for putting the programme together. I personally look forward to the opportunity of meeting with as many of you as possible during the coming days. Please do not hesitate to speak to anyone in the BSB team if there are things we can do to make the visit even better for you.

With very best wishesAndy PuttockPrincipal

WELCOME MESSAGEFrom our Director of Sport & PEDear U13 FOBISIA Players, Coaches, & Parents,

The British School of Beijing, Shunyi (BSY or henceforth known as BSB) welcomes you all to the U13 B RED FOBISIA Games for 2017. Everyone here at the BSB is excited to be hosting our first U13 games within FOBISIA. The last FOBISIA games BSB hosted was back in 2012 which were at the Primary Level. As you are aware we also hosted the 2016 B RED U15 FOBISIA Games in November which despite only 3 schools attending were again a great show of support for the attending schools coming to Beijing for the Games. In much the same manner I also want to thank again the four traveling FOBISIA B RED schools, Bangkok International Prep (BPR), Dulwich College Seoul (DSL), Kolej Tuanku Ja Afar (KTJ) & The British School of Guangzhou (BSG), for being able to join us for the annual U13 Games. Participation in these sport games no matter where they are hosted is a fundamental part of FOBISIA and all that is great about this organization for members schools and its students.

We have a great program of events for you over the 4-5 days you will be visiting BSB & Beijing. As previously communicated, we have moved all the host facilities to BSB & next door at the International School of Beijing (ISB). Locations for all Events: Athletics (ISB Track/Stadium), Swimming (BSB’s Pool), Football (BSB’s Pitch), and Basketball (BSB’s Dome). I have no doubt that the high level of competition will bring out the very best in each and every athlete that takes part as we have experienced in many past U13 games.

The following information below, outlines all 3 days of the competitions with details related to scoring/rules/schedules/ & emergency contacts if these would be needed. Students will also receive an U13 FOBISIA Games Official Program with their Games Packs (T-Shirt, Water Bottle, & Bag). I hope your stay in Beijing will be an enjoyable one, and just remember these are not BSB’s games but the entire B RED Divisions, so if we for whatever reason aren’t getting something right, just let me know so we can work harder to ensure we do.
