Tomorrow, Year 5 students travel to Tinaroo Dam on the Atherton Tablelands. They will be camping at Barrabadeen on the edge of the lake. Students will be learning to orienteer, build rafts, canoe, challenge themselves in team building activities and enjoy themselves for three days. Many thanks to Mrs Gallagher, Miss Todd and Mrs Sugars for their organisation of the camp.

Today we celebrated Book Week with our Book Character Parade. The event was organised by Mrs Horsford and Mrs Farina assisted by the Student Council.

Well done to all who dressed up and so creatively looked like their book character. Photos will feature in the next couple of newsletters.

Next week we have Maggie Dent visiting Good Counsel Primary School. Maggie is a National and International author, a parenting and resilience expert with a special interest in the early years and adolescence. She is a passionate advocate for the healthy, common sense raising of children that strengthen families and communities. Maggie has a broad perspective of experience that shapes her work, a slightly irreverent sense of humour and a deep depth of knowledge that she shares passionately.

This is our 6th consecutive year of having Maggie visit Good Counsel Primary School. Each year numbers of participants grow and we hope this year you make the effort to attend one of her talks. There are three opportunities to hear Maggie talk this year:-

With passion, warmth and humour, Maggie draws on current research and her extensive experience as an educator, counsellor and mother of four to guide parents and care givers in their decision making, to raise children who are happy, healthy, strong, kind and resilient. Congratulations Bishop James Foley…

Bishop James celebrated his Silver Jubilee of Ordination to the

Episcopal Office. He was ordained our Bishop at St Monica’s Cathedral

on 21st August 1992. Congratulations from all the students and Staff of

Good Counsel Primary.
