Rhoads is out after four years at Anderson. The Trojans were 11-30 under Rhoads anddidn’t have a winning season during that time, but they did make the playoffs in 2016 andfinished 3-8. DC Hunter promoted to HC.

Beaumont United N/A N/A Arthur Lewis

Lewis, who began the Beaumont Ozen program in the late 1990s, will be the first coach atUnited HS. United will open its doors this fall as the result of Beaumont ISD’s decision tomerge Central and Ozen. The Timberwolves will jump right into varsity football underLewis, who returns to coaching after a nine-year hiatus.

Buda Hays Consolidated 4-7 Neal LaHue Les Goad

Massey retires after 14 seasons at Deer Park. The former Katy assistant, who was amember of state championship staffs in 1997, 2000 and 2003, took over in Deer Countryand led his team to the postseason 11 times. The Deer were 94-55 under Massey. DPalum and Grand View University (Iowa) OC Flynn comes home to coach his alma mater.

DeSoto 10-2 Todd Peterman Mike Robinson

Peterman, the only coach to lead DeSoto to a state championship, leaves after threeseasons. The Eagles won state with a 16-0 campaign in 2016. North Mesquite HCRobinson takes same position at DHS

Donna North 1-9 Matthew Rokovich Joe Marichalar

Rokovich calls it a career after 34 years, including the last two as HC at North. The Chiefswere 3-17 under Rokovich, who also had a three-year mark of 11-19 as HC at Brackettvilleduring the Reagan Administration (1987-85). DISD moves swiftly and brings in Edcouch-Elsa HC Marichalar

No miracle revival for Paschal in three years under Miracle. The Panthers were 5-25 duringthe last three seasons, which prompted the ouster of Miracle. Former Crowley HC Jamestakes similar position at Paschal.

Grand Prairie 5-6 Gary Bartel Tony Tademy

Bartel earns promotion to AD of GPISD. In his final season, Bartel guided his alma mater,Grand Prairie, to its first postseason appearance since 1989. He spent the last 14 seasonas HC for the Gophers. GP hires former Katy Tompkins HC Tademy as its new HC.

Houston Strake Jesuit 8-3 Mark Modeste Klay Kubiak

Modeste leaves Strake after one season. OC Kubiak, the middle son of former HoustonTexans and Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak, promoted to HC of the Crusaders

Humble Summer Creek 7-4 Brian Ford Kenny Harrison

The only coach in Summer Creek’s eight-year history is retiring. The Bulldogs amassed a54-32 record under Ford, which included consecutive 11-1 campaigns in 2012 and 2013.Port Arthur Memorial HC Harrison hired to take over st SC.

Katy Seven Lakes 4-6 Lydell Wilson Jimmy Hamon

Wilson and Seven Lakes part ways after six years. The Spartans were 30-31 under Wilson,who also won a state championship at Rosenberg Lamar in 2007. Fort Bend Ridge PointDC Hamon becomes SLHS's new HC.

Katy Taylor 6-5 Trey Hermann Chad Simmons

Hermann was placed on administrative leave following Taylor’s season opener and wasdemoted to the junior high level within KISD. The Mustangs were 21-15 under Hermann,which included a season-opening loss to Magnolia, and campaigns of 8-4 in 2014 and 9-3in 2016. Cinco Ranch DC Simmons takes over at Taylor.

were 19-32 under Gregory, who inherited a 20-game losing streak and went 0-10 his firstseason (2013) before snapping the dreaded 30-game skid in 2014 with a 2-8 campaign.Ellison went 6-4 the next two seasons (2015, 2016), but missed the postseason each time,before clinching its first playoff berth in a decade last season. Houston Waltrip HC Wrighttakes over at Eagle Country.

Klein Collins 11-1 Drew Svoboda N/A

Svoboda leaves Collins after 10 seasons to become RBs coach at Rice University. TheTigers were 93-24 under Svoboda, which included a state semifinal appearance in 2016.

Laredo Alexander 6-6 Joel Lopez Sergio Salinas

Lopez reassigned after 12 seasons at Alexander. The Bulldogs were 78-64 under Lopez,including a 10-4 campaign in 2010. United South HC Salinas takes over at Alexander.

Laredo United South 4-7 Sergio Salinas Joe Coss

Salinas leaves United South to coach at UISD rival Alexander. The Panthers were 32-34 insix seasons under Salinas, including a 10-3 campaign in 2016. Round Rock Cedar Ridge DCCoss takes over at USHS.

Kyle Lehman 1-9 Josh Kirkland Bruce Salmon

Kirkland leaves Lehman after one season to join the staff at the University of theIncarnate Word. The Lobos have never reached the postseason in their 12-year existence,and have just one winning season -- a 6-4 campaign in 2011. Marion HC Salmon becomesthe third HC in as many seasons for LHS.

McKinney 7-4 Jeff Smith Marcus Shavers

Smith leaves McKinney after eight seasons to become an assistant AD at Prosper ISD. TheLions were 28-53 under Smith. Lubbock Estacado HC Shavers takes over at MHS.

New Braunfels Canyon 2-8 Joe Moczygemba J oe Lepsis

Moczygemba leaves Canyon after four seasons to become an administrator for Comal ISD.The Cougars were 9-31 under Moczygemba, who previously served as DC at SmithsonValley. Wylie East HC Lepsis takes over at Canyon.

North Mesquite 3-7 Mike Robinson Tim Seder

North Mesquite 3-7 Mike Robinson Tim Seder Robinson leaves North Mesquite after 11seasons to take the same post at DeSoto. The Stallions were 52-62 under Robinson, whichincluded a 10-3 campaign in 2015. Mesquite Horn DC and former Dallas Cowboys kickerSeder becomes NMHS’s new HC.

Pasadena Dobie 3-6 Mike Norman Kevin Berneathy

Norman leaves Dobie after three seasons. The Longhorns were 11-19 under Norman,which included a 5-6 campaign in 2015. Angleton OC Berneathy takes over at Dobie.

South Pasadena Houston5-4 Dwayne Lane Patrick Longstreet

Lane leaves South Houston to take over at Clear Creek. The Trojans were 15-35 underLane, which included playoff appearances each of the last two seasons. Rosenberg TerryOC Longstreet is SHHS's new HC.

Pearland 5-4 James Farmer Ricky Tullos

Farmer served as the interim HC for Pearland after longtime coach Tony Heath retired lastsummer. The Oilers went to the postseason in their only season under Farmer. Pearlandplucks Tullos from district rival George Ranch to become its new HC.

Pearland Dawson 6-4 Eric Wells Mike Allison

Wells leaves Dawson to become an assistant AD at PISD. The only coach in the Eagles’ 10-year history, Wells guided his team to the state semifinals three times (2009, 2011, 2014).Dawson was 90-35 under Wells. Clear Brook HC Allison, a former Dawson DC, takes over.

Richmond George Ranch 6-4 Ricky Tullos Nick Cavallo

Tullos, the only coach in George Ranch’s six-year history, takes over at Pearland. TheLonghorns were 59-17 under Tullos, which included a Class 5A-Division I statechampionship in 2015. Rosenberg Terry DC Cvallo takes over at GR.

San Antonio Taft 2-8 Brian Davenport Ricky Stade

Davenport retires from Taft after 13 seasons as HC. The Raiders were 38-93 underDavenport, which included a playoff appearance in 2007. O’Connor DC Stade takes over atTaft.

San Antonio Warren 6-5 Bryan Dausin Jeff Robbins

Dausin retires after a successful career, which included HC stints at SA Roosevelt, SA7/24

Marshall and SA Warren, a 1995 state championship at Roosevelt, and an overall coachingrecord of 165-107. Dausin is the only HC in Warren history, and he guided the Warriors tothe postseason eight times in 16 years, including an 11-2 campaign in 2011. DC Robbinspromoted to HC.

Southlake Carroll 10-4 Hal Wasson Riley Dodge

Wasson reaches a six-figure settlement to resign from Carroll. Wasson guided theDragons to a state championship in 2011, and had an overall record of 121-25 during his11-year tenure. SLC hires Justin Northwest OC and former SLC QB Dodge to take over hisalma mater.

The Woodlands 7-2 Mark Schmid Jim Rapp

Schmid, an alum of McCullough/The Woodlands, steps down after 30 years at his almamater, including the last 14 as HC. The Highlanders were 125-41 in 14 seasons underSchmid, which included an appearance in the state championship game in 2016. OC Rapppromoted to HC.

Waxahachie 8-5 Jon Kitna Todd Alexander

Former NFL QB Kitna resigns after three years at Waxahachie. The Indians were 20-13under Kitna. Longtime WHS assistant Alexander promoted to HC.

Jackson passed away Dec. 12 after a battle with cancer. LBJ still managed to reach thepostseason despite Jackson’s declining health. The Jaguars were 59-39 in five years underJackson, which included an 11-3 campaign in 2014. He also guided Austin Reagan to thestate semifinals in 2001. OC Fenner promoted to HC

Austin McCallum 14-1 Charles Taylor Tom Gammerdinger

Taylor leaves McCallum after four seasons to take over at Pflugerville. The Knights were35-13 under Taylor, which includes last season’s state semifinal appearance. DCGammerdinger promoted to HC.

Brenham 6-4 Glen West Eliot Allen

West, the winningest coach in Brenham history, leaves after 20 years to become theassistant executive director for THSCA. The Cubs were 185-61 in their two decades underWest, which included 18 playoff appearances, 11 district championships, four statesemifinal appearances and three state final appearances. West's career spans 34 years,including 26 as HC at Kemp (6) and Brenham (20) with an overall record of 226-84-1.

Brownsville Lopez 8-3 Jason Starkey N/A

Starkey resigns from Lopez after five seasons. The Lobos were 20-32 under Starkey, whowere 5-25 in their first three years under him before going 15-7 the last two.
