1.0 OVERVIEW Thank you for buying this product. Carefully check the contents of the packaging. It contains:


- sub-D 15v.m. vol. conn. with boot code ADP 010

- This handbook and the conformity certificate

- 1 cable, code ADC101 m/m

- The mains adapters code ADM001

-1 Rack kit- 1 Table kit

- The TZW403+ unit

2.0 POWER SUPPLY

The TZW 403+ unit is powered only via the AC/AC adapter code ADM 001 provided.

The unit does not have any calibrations or presettings inside. Any operations on the machine must be carried out by qualified personnel.

The adapter must be inserted in an 220-240V - 50Hz AC current outlet.

3.0 PRESETTINGS

The TZW 403+ switcher has a presetting from keyboard to enable the input desired at power-on.

Refer to chap. 5.0 for a description of presettings from keyboard.

The TZW 403+ switcher has a set of 5 dip-switches accessible from the back of the unit that permit presetting and personalization for functioning in CASCADE mode.

Refer to chap. 9.0 for a description of the presettings.

4.0 INSTALLATION

a) Check that all the units to be installed are OFF.

b) Connect the 4 sources to the sub-D 15 v. m. HD IN1 ÷ IN4 conn. with 4 VGA m/m cables.

c) Connect the destination to the sub-D 15 v. f. HD conn. with the ADC101 m/m cable provided.

d) Connect the stereo audio in output from the 4 sources to the 4 RCA sockets ( AUDIO IN).

e) Tap the stereo audio in output from the RCA socket (AUDIO OUT) o from the balanced audio output (BALANCED) upgraded to +6dB and connect it to a sound amplification and broadcast system.

f) Connect the AC power supply as prescribed in chap 2.0 and check that the built-in led of key 1 on the front panel of the unit lights up

5.0 LOCAL CONTROL

The TZW 403+ switcher can be controlled using 4 keys on the front panel of the unit.

The built-in led switches on to indicate which source is switched on the output.

5.1 Presettings from keyboard

Presetting of the input at power-on

To enable a particular input at power-on of the unit, hold down the button of that input for 3 seconds. Flashing of the built-in led confirms saving of the command.

From this moment on, each time the unit is powered on, the TZW403+ will enable that input.

By default, the unit enables input 1.


6.0 CONTROL USING DRY CONTACTS AND TALLY

The TZW 403+ switcher can be controlled using 4 dry contacts connected to the sub-D 15 v.f. REMOTE connector on the back of the machine.Four external signals are provided for switching on of the 4 talley leds connected as indicated in the figure below.

7.0 AUXILIARY FUNCTIONSThe TZW 403+ features three auxiliary functions that are activated with 3 dry contacts connected to the sub-D 15 v. f. REMOTE conn. located on the back of the machine. The function remains active as long as the related pin is at ground (pin 7)

7.1 AUTOSEQUENCINGAll 4 sources are switched on the output at a rate of 4 or 10 seconds each. The time of 4 or 10 seconds is established by pin 4 (TIME) of the sub-D 15 v. f. REMOTE conn. located on the back of the machine.

7.2 AUTOSWITCHINGThe active source is displayed on output VGA/XGA. If several sources are active, source 1 has the highest priority followed by 2 and so on.7.3 RGB MUTENo source is switched on the output.

Correspondence between the code sent by the computer and the function activated on the TZW 403+ is shown in the table below.

The AUTOSEQUENCING, AUTOSWITCHING and RGB MUTE commands are de-activated repeating the command or sending the code of another command.Pressing a key on the built-in keyboard, the AUTOSEQUENCING, AUTOSWITCHING and RGB MUTE are de-activated.In this case, the input of the key pressed is switched on the output.

This feature is particularly useful when, between one switching and the next, the images to be displayed are to be prepared on the computer.

WARNING

AUTOSEQUENCING, AUTOSWITCHING and RGB MUTE are mutually exclusive.Priority is: RGB MUTE

9.1 COMMANDS IN CASCADESelection of the source to be switched on the output in CASCADE functioning is facilitated by a particular keyboard called REMOTE TCR 03 which must be purchased separately.The TCR 03 keyboard is connected to the TZW 403+ using four cables as described in the keyboard installation manual.The host computer will also be connected on the back of the keyboard according to the same methods as described in paragraph 8.0.

Also during CASCADE functioning, input 1 is switched at power-on.

The source to be sent to the output of the system can also be selected from the host computer following the codes of the table below.

9.0 CASCADE OPTION AND PRESETTINGS.

The TZW 403+ switcher features a CASCADE option that permits connection in series of 4 units in order to set up a 13:1 switcher.The OUT output of the first TZW 403+ must be connected to input IN1 of the second TZW 403+ and so on.Using three 2-conductor cables terminated with RCA connectors, connect together the LINK connectors fitted on the back of the unit.

CASCADE functioning is activated moving a switch accessible on the back of the unit as indicated in figure 9.

WARNINGWith the CASCADE option active, the three auxiliary functions are excluded

except for RGB MUTE controlled from computer.

Each unit must also be personalized according to its position in the chain, moving another switch as indicated in figure 9.

This product is guaranteed for 2 years from the date of purchase.

If the fault in the product is due to improper use or operationscarried out by third parties, the warranty is forfeited.

During the warranty period, Elpro will repair the faulty units free of charge.

The faulty units must be sent CARRIAGE FREE to the Elpro offices in Turin with a regular accompanying note.

The units repaired will be returned CARRIAGE FORWARD to the addressee.

Outside the warranty period, Elpro will repair the faulty units EX its Turin offices, charging the cost of the repair to the customer.

All the functions of the TZW 403+ switcher can be computer-controlled simply sending a hexadecimal character..

RS 232 standard transmission must be at 8 bits1 stop bit, no parity. Speed is 9600 baud.

The character must be sent to pin 2 of the sub-D 15 v. f. REMOTE conn. located on the back of the machine.The ground is pin 7.
