NavNet TZtouch2 TZTL12F/15F new software v4.01 offers new

features that correspond with feedback through the last season and adds

unique features for the next season. This document describes the

overview of v4.01 new features, and details of key features are

introduced in separate sales bulletins.

1. Key – Brand New Features

1-1 CZone

CZone is a brand of BEP Marine in New Zealand and offers a wide variety of digital

switching technology. The TZTL12F/15F v4.01 has the digital switching solution with

CZone by monitoring and controlling the CZone system from the TZTL12F/15F screen. Details of CZone features on the

TZTL12F/15F are introdcued in Sales Bulletin FSB16-0024. For more infomration on CZone and BEP Marine, see their

1-2 Importing Boundaries from TIMEZERO

The boundary data created on a TIMEZERO PC

(MaxSea/Nobeltec) can be imported to the

TZTL12F/15F v4.01 and later via a USB. Here is

one scenario on how to utilize this feature:

A mega yacht with a tender boat creates or

updates boundaries on a regular basis with a

TIMEZERO PC. The tender boat equipped with the

TZTL12F/15F can have the latest boundaries

imported from the TIMEZERO via a USB drive.

See Sales Bulletin FSB16-0025 for details.

1-3 NavNet Remote App

The TZTL12F/15F v4.01 is compatible with the NavNet

Remote app, in addition to the NavNet Viewer and Controller

apps, as the TZT9/14/BB. The iOS and Android Apps Guide is

revised as shown in Sales Bulletin FSB16-0027.

1-4 New Uploader

The Uploader has been utilized on NavNet 3D and NavNet

TZtouch MFDs to update networked sensors through the MFD.

The new Uploader is available on NavNet TZtouch2 as well

from the TZTL12F/15F v4.01. Details will be introduced in a

separate sales bulletin.

2. Navigation

2-1 Manual Fuel Management

Tank level information has been available on the TZTL12F/15F Data Box and Instrument

page by receiving the NMEA2000 PGN: 127505 – Fluid Level. New v4.01 will also

calculate the remaining fuel based on the manually entered tank capacity, as well as fuel

consumption from the NMEA2000 PGN: 127489 – Fuel Rate. For details of the Manual

Fuel Management, see Sales Bulletin FSB16-0026.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

(1) The tank level information will be based on the manually entered tank capacity and refill fuel volume.

The indication may be innacurate when the entered values are incorrect or the condition of fuel rate sensor

is not good.

(2) While the engine is running, the TZTL12F/15F should be always turned on in order to keep calculating

the fuel consumption in the TZTL12F/15F.

2-2 Points and Routes – New Entry

Add New Points from List Page

A new option to enter points is

added in the Points List page.

In [Home] – [Lists] – [Points], select [Add Point] to add new points. You can utilize this page when you enter the

points to get prepared in advance for navigation and fishing.

Quick Access to Point Edition after Entering Point by L/L

When a new point is entered from

the [Lat/Lon] setting option in the

Plotter page, the screen will change

to the Edition page, so that you can

enter a name and/or comment.

Default Name for New Route

When a new route is created or a trackback route is created from a track, a default name

consisting of [RTE yyyy-mm-dd] will be added.

2-3 Points and Routes – Density Setting

When many points and routes are created, the zoomed out chart screen can be too busy to look at with all of this data

covering the chart. The TZTL12F/15F v4.01 has several setting options to smooth the points and routes on the screen.

In [Settings] – [Points] – [Points Density], you have

four (4) options: [Low], [Medium] (default), [High],

and [Full]. The [Low] setting declutters the points and

routes the most, while the [Full] shows all the points

and routes.

Menu Settings

The example at right compares how

points are decluttered.

Depending on the number of entered

points and routes, select the most

suitable density setting.

3. MCU-004 Additional Features

3-1 Menu Selection with Rotary Knob

All the Settings, Layer, and

contextual menu items can

be selected with rotary knob

operation only.

3-2 Grouping Controllable Displays

The MCU-004 has the [Switch Disp.] key. With

one (1) MCU-004 connected to one of the displays,

the controllable display can be switched in the

network. The TZTL12F/15F v4.01 has a function to

set up a controllable group for the MCU-004. As an

example, displays at the main bridge and fly bridge

should be operated independently. In this case,

two groups are categorized as shown in the

illustration at right. The MCU-004 [Switch Disp.]

key switches the controllable displays in the same

group only.

This new feature is described more in details in the

revised Sales Bulletin FSB16-0014R1 –

Section 4.

3-3 Edge Swipe Arrows

The MCU-004 has the dedicated key to access the

edge swipe function. When the [Edge Swipe] key is

presseed for edge swiping, guidance arrows will

appear at each edge. Move the joystick to the

instructed directions.

3-4 Auto Scroll ON/OFF

Auto Scroll ON/OFF setting is added like the TZT9/14/BB. With

Auto Scroll ON, the screen will be scrolled when the cursor

reaches the edges of the screen.

4. Radar

4-1 Echo Trail and Average

Echo Trail and Echo Average functions are added,

which can be utilized in the Bird Mode and navigation.

These functions are accessible from a contextual menu in

the Radar page.

Note:

In the Dual Range mode in the 2-split or

3-split screen, only the left or upper

screen can have the Echo Trail and Echo

Average functions.

4-2 Bird Mode Indication

The indication of Bird Mode settings is changed.

Note:

The previously issued Sales Bulletins for the Bird

Mode are updated under the new document numbers

of FSB16-0015R1 and FSB16-0016R2 to describe

both Echo Trail/Average and Bird Mode indication.

5. Fish Finder

5-1 Minimum Range 2 m for Built-in Fish Finder

The minimum range of TZTL12F/15F built-in Fish Finder is 2.0 m. (Previous: 5 m).

This can be utilized for bottom fishing at the shallow water such as flounder.

6. GUI

6-1 Smooth L/L Update when Moving Points

While dragging a point, the Cursor Information Box in the Data Box smoohtly

updates the point location.

6-2 Brill Adjustment with Power Key

The screen brilliance was adjustable by sliding

the brilliance bar with the previous versions.

The TZTL12F/15F v4.01 can also adjust the

brilliance by tapping on the power key.

6-3 Improved Edge Swipe Response

Edge swipe takes you to the Layer menu, Quick Page,

Data Box, and Universal Setting. The previous versions

required the finger to be swiped at right angle to the

edge. The TZTL12F/15F v4.01 improves the response of

edge swipe gesture at each edge to accept slanted

angles to the edge.

7. Commercial Features

7-1 Operator Fitness Output

The TZTL12F/15F v4.01 outputs a contact

signal when it is operated by touch or

MCU-002/004. When the TZTL12F/15F is

installed with a BNWAS such as BR-500 on

non-IMO commercial vessels, this function

can be utilized.

7-2 AIS Symbol Color Changed

As introduced in Sales Bulletin FSB15-0024 Section 2-2, the TZT9/14/BB v4.01 and later has a function to show Blue

Force Tracking (BFT) targets, while the AIS symbol color was updated for better visibility. The TZTL12F/15F v4.01 also

follows the same color pallet for the AIS symbols including the BFT target.

Class-A : Edged in Blue

Class-B : Edged in Green

BFT : Filled in Blue

8. NMEA0183 Output

The TZTL12F/15F v4.01 additionally outputs the following NMEA0183

sentences.

- DPT

- DBT

- RMC

- TTM

9. Updated ActiveCaptain Database and eGuide

The basic ActiveCaptain POI database and eGuide (built-in operator manual) are updated. The update packages will be

provided with v4.01 software package.

Basic ActiveCaptain Database

To install the latest database on the TZTL12F/15F, see Sales Bulletin

FSB16-0013. If the TZTL12F/15F is already loaded with the basic

database when v3.01/3.02 is installed, the database can also be updated

to the latest one via the Internet.

eGuide Pub. No. E42-01409-D

eGuide is updated to have the functions to change

font size and search by keyword, as well as adding

descriptions on new features implemented since

v3.01 such as DRS4D-NXT Target Analyzer, Bird

Mode, Echo Trail, etc. To install the latest eGuide, see

Sales Bulletin FSB16-0028.

10. Others

(1) Sirius diagnostic page is added to show data count and BBWX3 serial numbers.

(2) [Sirius disconnection alarm] is fixed.

(3) When the ActiveCaptain database is updated via the Internet, the message bar shows [Updating ActiveCaptain

data].

(4) The TZTL12F/15F is compatible with Loran-C and MGRS.

(5) When the NAVpilot-700/711C is in SABIKI mode, the TZTL12F/15F will show the mode as [SABIKI].

(6) Odometer and chart unlock codes can be reset independently in the Reset Menu.

(The Reset Menu is accessible from Service Menu or with a dedicated power key stroke

at startup.)

(7) Demo files of DRS4D-NXT Target Analyzer mode can be played with proper echo

color presentation.

(8) The TZTL12F/15F is ready for compatibility with the upcoming new Radar Sensors

DRS12A X-Class and DRS25A X-Class.
