Solitary Play• First stage of play• Starts in infancy• Involves exploring the

environment, discovering new things and learning from them

• Continues throughout toddlerhood

• Involves playing alone and completely absorbed in what they are doing without noticing others

Parallel Play• Common with toddlers

• Emerges around 4-5 years old

• Play has an organized structure

• Children will communicate with each other to work towards a common goal

• Children learn respect for others property
