Assignment 1.1a
A medium was selected and manipulated to form a component system. Several of these systems were constructed.
Assignment 1.1b
A component system was selected from 1.1a. From this, the logic informing the assembly was created digitally. This was used to output graphics.

Resulting in aneconomical connection strategy. Components connect through shape and gravity.
Begin with simple card rectangle.
Rectangles are rolled on theoutside of a round object.
As iterations continuerolls become tighter.

Components are then hung.
By combining the rotated plates, not only is the hanging surface more aesthetically interesting, but is more universal because of the 90 degree angle formed in the ridgeScale

Assignment 1.2
The digital output that was created in Assignment 1.1 was further developed in Grasshopper and Rhino in order to make the assembly parametric.
Assignment 1.2
The assembly was then fabrivcated using these digital techniques.

A shot glass holder component was then placed into an environment. Some evolutionary adaptations de-veloped as a result. This was digitally constructed

Conus Climavaria - A Living Fossil
Namib DesertTyler Ko
At night, the organism opens its core to cool from the high temperatures during the day and to collect water from the morning fog that rolls in from the coast.
The Conus Climavaria protects itself from the high winds, high temperatures, and beating sun of the desert day by folding inward and showing its waxy, white exterior.

Assignment 2C
The components from 2B were further developed into different sub-systems to operate as a sink, filter, and conduit in their environments.
Assignment 2C
Again, graphical representation skills were developed, especially line drawings taken from 3d modeling.

Assignment 2C - Three performances[2013-03-15-]
Conus Sabulumcerno
The fog found on the coast of the Namib desert has been a vital source of life for millenia, and after 1000 years, it continues to be. The Conus has developed a highly textured petal pattern to condense the vapour, and channel it to it’s roots.
Filter
The abundance of mineral-rich sand carried by the wind has resulted in an ability to transform trace minerals found in sand grains into valuable nutrition. The tiered adaptation allows the Conus to keep the large grains near new growth, and smaller grains to established growth.
Conduit
High winds in the Namib desert have prompted the Conus to use the kinetic energy to its advantage. By transfering the energy through subsequent cones, the Conus digs into the sand, entrenching it during storms, and securing underground sources of water.

Assignment 2D
The components from 2C were then evolved again into a habitat for a creature. The story of the component and how it was discovered were the objectives of the illustrations and board.
Assignment 2D
Physical modeling was also em-ployed at this stage as well.

Assignment 2D - Final Project[2013-04-09]
EvolutionAfter a thorough biological investigation of the creature, the team and I spoke with the surrounding local populations to gather information on the creature. As it turns out, the plant is a staple in the people’s folklore, and is immortalized in a tablet that had been passed down from millennia of generations. The tablet depicted the different forms of the Conus over its evolution. At first, it was a simple cone shape spread throughout the desert. Then, a later evolution joined the cones together on a central spine to help it endure the harsh sandstorms and utilize the energy of the wind to push the spine into the desert sand. The last descendant before its current form, seemed to incorporate both of these evolutionary advantages, only to be optimized in its the most current form.

My close encounter with the strange Conus creature piqued my interest, and as soon as I found my way out of the desert, I assembled a team to begin studying the animal on a closer scale. Beyond the strange gigantic pods and long flowing stem, the biology of the Conus is unique, featuring a waxy, cactus-like skin, presumably to prevent respiration. Perhaps most intriguing was what appeared to be a long, central muscle along the interior of the stem that seemed to be driving the aperture of the pods. Somehow, the plant was able to follow the sun through the sky, and manipulate the shape of its pods to respond accordingly.
Biology
After mistakenly losing my sleeping roll, and with the sun setting, I feared that the desert night and my sweat soaked clothing would spell the end of my adventures, until I stumbled onto a gigantic plant-like aberration, with multiple pods haphazardly placed onto a gnarled, twisted stem that seemed to flow straight into the sand itself. With the night chill setting in, I could see the pods beginning to close, and with little choice, I climbed in and started a fire to keep myself warm. To my surprise, the petals of the plant made for an excellent shelter, the waxy exterior kept the cold night air at bay, keeping me alive for the night. When the morning arrived, I was shocked to find the petals spread wide open, absorbing the rays of the sun, and conveniently shading me from the harsh desert day. I had come to the Namib Desert searching for unique habitats, hosting strange and exotic animals, only to find myself inhabiting one!

Tyler KoGraphics Assignment 2D
My goal to document and catalogue the world’s strangest and unique habitats finally brought me to the Namib Desert. . The desert was a terrible place, devoid of life, harbouring only placeless dunes, and endless stretches of sand; more than once, I felt as though my journey had been foolhardy, what kind of finding would discover in such a place? A question that would be answered quickly on the second night, and third day of my exploration. An otherworldly, enormous creature, which I have dubbed the Conus Tesquasolacium, offered me shelter and averted the, otherwise ill-fated, trip.
