The Real Fight Began on November 3rd!
We have all fought hard, campaigned,
donated money, block walked, attended
forums & rallies to put as many
Republicans in office as possible on
November 2nd. By the time we get the
newsletter out, the election will be over,
votes counted and victory parties attended.
I am optimistic that we will win gloriously,
taking back many Harris County seats and
"beat the he!! outta Democrats"! Whoop.
But, no matter how many R's win, it's just
a battle - not the war. "You have not made
this country safe. You have not stopped the
advance of socialism in this country. You
have not stopped the Democrats from
destroying the economy. You, all of you,
have won nothing. NOTHING." quote
from article written by Erick Erickson,
Daily Events. He's right - the real work
begins on November 3rd.
Of course, Texas Tea Party Republican
Women are the most focused, hard
working and praying women I know.
We're the life of the party and we will
NEVER GIVE UP and NEVER
SURRENDER. But we will enjoy our
lives, honor our military, celebrate
Christmas and strategize to take back our
country in 2012; one battle at a time and
one election at a time.
As we wind down 2010 with our "Salute to
Veterans" program on November 9th and
plan our Christmas Party (Save the Date -
December 7th,) look forward to 2011 &
2012 - we've still got a few battles to go.
CELEBRATING VETERANS' DAY
2010! Freedom Flight Leader Col. Sam Ward
(USAF, Ret.,) shares the memories and
significance of his Vietnam combat
missions with TTPRW, as we honor and
celebrate our veterans!
Since flying has always held a particular
fascination for Sam, this led naturally to
his joining the U. S. Air Force. Having competed successfully for an assignment
to Air Force pilot training, Sam then
earned his wings at Craig Air Force Base,
Alabama. After training in the F-102
Delta Dagger, or “Deuce,” he received an
assignment to Soesterberg Air Base,
Netherlands.
With the experience gained from that
assignment, Sam was ready for the challenge of combat. He soon got his
chance. Returning from Europe, he
trained in the F-4 Phantom and went
almost immediately to Thailand, where he
flew 100 combat missions in the Phantom
over North Vietnam. During his combat
tour, he was awarded the Distinguished
Flying Cross twice, the Air Medal
thirteen times, the Vietnam Service
Medal with 3 devices, Republic of
Vietnam Gallantry Cross with device, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign
Medal. He earned numerous other
awards and decorations for his years of
non-combat service. These included the
Airman’s Medal and the Meritorious
Service Medal with device.
We don't often get to hear first-hand of
such experiences--join us as we share
these memories with Col. Sam Ward and honor the sacrificial service of all our
veterans!

Feb 10, 2011 - CWA Pro-Family Lobby Day in Austin - SAVE THE DATE!
Compiled by Norma Jeter
“From the governor's race all the way to the county courthouse, Republicans have defeated their opponents. On Nov. 2nd, massive Republican turnout rejected the Obama Democrat agenda and elected Republicans all across the state.” —Jared Woodfill
As of this date, Republicans will gain over 60 seats in the U.S. House and 6 in the Senate. In the Texas House, 22 new Republican members were elected, giving Republicans a majority of at least 99 out of 150.
In Harris County, thanks to the efforts of the Texas Tea Party Republican Women members and all the volunteers, Republicans won all countywide races. Thanks again for all your hard
work Texas Tea Women, it wouldn’t have happened without you!
Two of three propositions in the City of Houston were defeated: Prop 1: A referendum relating to drainage issues in the City of Houston passed. Prop 2: Residency requirements for individuals seeking city offices from one year to six
months was rejected. Prop 3: Red light camera program was rejected.
The Tea Parties made a great difference in these 2010 elections. They brought a different focus: pushing for poll watchers and election judges and putting together rallies that gave people a voice for their anger, disappointment and fear. Because we understand their enthusiasm and determination, Texas Tea Party Republican Women reach out to the Tea Party groups by attending rallies and helping with publicity.

“Oh, thus be it ever when free men shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation!
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto, "In God is our trust"
And the Star-Spangled Banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!”
“Star Spangled Banner”, 4th Verse
The lyrics to "The Star-Spangled Banner" are particularly poignant and meaningful during this month, as we honor those who have so valiantly
served our nation on the battle field. Francis Scott Key triumphantly closes our national anthem in the fourth verse, which also speaks to the very heart of Texas Tea Party Republican Women’s mission to restore America to her conservative roots.
As we triumphantly close out 2010, TTPRW’s membership stands at 258 mission-minded
members. Your memberships help to support TTPRW’s “just causes” for America from the local level to the federal level, for which we say “THANK
YOU!’

O Lord God of hosts, stretch forth, we
pray, your almighty arm to strengthen and
protect the Soldiers of our country. Support
them in the day of battle, and in the time of rest
and training keep them safe from all evil. En-
due them with courage and loyalty; and grant
that in all things they may serve without re-proach; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Spotlight:
Vanice Chambers
TTPRW would like to shine its “Membership Spotlight” on Vanice Chambers. Vanice has the talent and organizational skills, as well as the knowledge of resources, for making events “happen!” She is truly the “Queen of Events!” Her gifts have been invaluable to TTPRW for our last two Membership Drive Social Events, held in May of each year. We first recognized
Vanice’s skill in May of 2009, when she quietly took charge of our kitchen and kept things running smoothly. Of course, we remembered this and called on her for TTPRW’s May, 2010 event. TTPRW’s Board sat back and watched with amazement as she confidently knew how to accommodate many of our needs for a wonderful event, based on approximately 200 attend-ing. From set-up provisions to menu and budget planning, her expertise was amazing. Hands-on, Vanice grocery shopped, hosted a “chopping party” in her home, and over-saw the serving tables and final clean-up on May 15th! Vanice, we couldn’t have done it without you! You have been a true blessing to TTPRW!

Next year, the people of Mississippi will get
to vote on a constitutional amendment to
define personhood as something that begins
at the moment of conception. This
“Personhood Amendment,” if passed, will
almost certainly lead to a direct legal
challenge to Roe v. Wade and could signal
the beginning of the end of legal abortion in
America. The author of the Roe decision,
Harry Blackmun, indicated that if the
“personhood” of an unborn child were ever
to be “established” in law, then the case for
abortion rights would collapse, “for the
fetus' right to life would then be guaranteed
specifically by the [14th] Amendment.
