No. 2003-ag-498, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Muhammad Sajjad S/o Muhammad Boota, Reg. No. 2001-ag-762, Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, have passed the final examination for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (2013). The Vice Chancellor is pleased to sanction their admission to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. The titles of their PhD research were “Bioremediation of textile industrial effluents using enzyme extracts from white rot fungi”, “Association mapping of yield traits in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)”. Now the number of UAF PhD club has been raised up to 1018. ASSUMPTION OF CHARGE The Vice Chancellor, in exercise of the powers vested in him under Section 15(4)(vi) of the UAF Act, 1973 has been pleased to assign the additional duties of Director, Water Management Research Center to Prof. Dr. Allah Bakhsh, Chairman, Department of Irrigation & Drainage with immediate effect, till further orders. He will exercise all financial and administrative powers of the Principal Officer. EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP OUT OF BENEVOLENT FUND Applications on the prescribed forms, available from the Registrar’s Office (Personnel Section) are invited for the award of Educational Scholarships out of Benevolent Fund Part-I to the children of serving, invalid and deceased University Employees (Grade 16 and above) provided that in case of serving University Employees, Scholarships will be admissible for one child for post-matric classes. In case of death or invalidation during service and if death occurs within 10 years after retirement, scholarship will be admissible for not more than 3 children. The children of University Employees who are in receipt of any other scholarship would not be eligible for the award of Educational Scholarship out of Benevolent Fund. The children of University Employees would have been awarded punishment by the Disciplinary Committees, would not be eligible for Educational Scholarship out of Benevolent Fund. The adopted son/daughter who falls in the definition of family, will be eligible to the grant of Educational Scholarship but that will be confined to only one adopted children of each family. The applications complete in all respects must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office (Personnel Section) within the period from 10-02-2013 to 10-03-2013 during office hours either by post or in person.

SITUATION VACANT 1. Applications are invited from Pakistani nationals who are not married to a foreign national to hire the post of

Student Intern/ Research Assistant at a consolidated pay of 200 US$ or equivalent PKR pm on contract basis in the Project No. 221 titled “Assessing Climatic Vulnerability and Projecting Crop Productivity using Integrated Crop and Economic Modeling Techniques” funded by Agricultural Model Inter-comparison and Improvement Project (Ag MIP), USA. The applicant must possess B.Sc. (Hons.) agronomy as major subject with minimum CGPA 3.50. He/She is required well aware with the applications of DSSAT/APSIM; Crop Modeling, Agro-meteorology; Climate Change Scenario. A regular M.Sc. (Hons.) major Crop Modeling and Climate Change Agronomy with the specialization will be preferred. Only one copy of the application is required with attested copies of certificates, testimonials, detailed marks certificates and transcripts. The university reserves the right not to fill the vacancy without assigning any reason. Incomplete applications or those received after the due date will not be entertained. 2. Applications are invited for the post of Research Fellow titled “Safe Food Production from Soils contaminated with Cadmium” M.Sc. 3. Applications are invited for the recruitment of the One post of Technical Assistant (Water Management) @ Rs. 25,000/- pm plus 10% annual increase on M.Sc. FACILITY TO DEPOSIT FEE FOR SPRINT SEMESTER The enrollment Schedule for Spring Semester (2012-13) has been notified. In order to facilitate the students’ community, the worthy Vice Chancellor has allowed to deposit their dues before notified schedule. In this respect the fee challan forms are available with concerned Dean’s in case of Undergraduate students, with concerned Director of Institute/Chairman of the Department in case of Postgraduate students and with the office of the Hall Warden in case of all boarder students. No. 2002-ag-1775, PhD student of the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics has placed his PhD thesis entitled “Association mapping for drought tolerance in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)” in Library of the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics on 14-02-2013 for one week. 3. Copy of PhD thesis submitted by Mr. Abdul Khaliq, Regd. 4. Mr. Aamir Shakoor, Regd. No. 2003-ag-2328, PhD student in the Department of Irrigation and Drainage, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, UAF has successfully defended his PhD synopsis on 07-02-2013. The title of his synopsis is “Hydrogeologic Assessment of Spatio-temporal Variation in Groundwater Quality and Its Impact on Agricultural Productivity”.

5. Mr. Muhammad Asif Khan, Regd. No. 2003-ag-1778, a PhD student of the National Institute of Food Sci. & Technology has successfully defended his PhD thesis at university level on 08-02-2013. The title of his thesis is “Characterization of oat bran beta-glucan with special reference to efficacy study”.

6. Miss Bazgha Ahmad, Regd. No. 99-ag-760, PhD Chemistry student of the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry has successfully defended her thesis entitled “Synthesis characterization, applications and degradation of vinyl sulphone based poly anchor reactive dyes” as required under the rules on 08-02-2013.

7. Mr. Rana Haroon Maqsood, Regd. No. 2005-ag-1721, PhD student of the Dept. of Plant Breeding and Genetics has successfully defended his PhD synopsis on 09-02-2013. The title of his PhD synopsis was “Physio-genetic study of bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) under normal and water stress conditions”. However, as per agreed suggestions by the teachers/experts during presentation of the synopsis the revised title is “Genetic basis of water stress tolerance in Triticum aestivum L.”.

8. Miss Aisha Khatoon, Regd. No. 2003-ag-2042, a PhD scholar of Department of Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary Science, has successfully defended her PhD synopsis on 06-02-2013 in the museum hall of Faculty of Veterinary Sciences. The title of her synopsis is “Amelioration of Mycotoxicosis in Chicken by Dietary Inclusion of Bentonite, Distillary Sludge and Milk Thistle”.

9. Mrs Al-Hafizah Shafia Tehseen Gul, Regd. No. 2001-ag-495, PhD student, Department of Pathology has successfully defended her thesis entitled “Seroprevalence of brucellosis in dairy animals and humans along with pathomorphological changes in experimentally induced infection” on 06-02-2013.

10. Mr. Saif-ur-Rehman, Regd. No. 2001-ag-578, PhD scholar, Institute of Microbiology has successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled “Epidemiology of Foot and mouth disease in sheep and goats in Punjab” on 06-02-2013.

11. Miss Nazia Yaqoob, Regd. No. 2001-ag-1220, PhD Chemistry student of the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry has successfully defended her thesis entitled “Analytical characterization of lipids and antioxidant components in flaxseeds (Linum usitatissimum)” as required under the rules on 04-02-2013.

12. Mr. Qudratullah, Regd. No. 2003-ag-2087, PhD student, Dept. of Clinical Medicine & Surgery has defended his PhD research synopsis entitled “Laboratory and Field Evaluation of a Locally Prepared Montanide® Adjuvanted Combined Hemorrhagic Septicemia-Mastitis Vaccine” on 30-01-2013.

13. Miss Maryam Nasir, Regd. No. 2005-ag-1707, a PhD student of Institute of Horticultural Sciences has successfully defended her synopsis on 29-01-2013. The title of her synopsis is “Management of growth, productivity and quality of ‘Kinnow’ mandarin (Citrus nobilis Lour. x Citrus deliciosa Tenora.) through exogenous application of moringa (Moringa oleifera L.) leaf extract”.

14. Miss Sakeena-Tul-Ain Haider, Regd. No. 2005-ag-1709, a PhD student of Institute of Horticultural Sciences has successfully defended her synopsis on 29-01-2013. The title of her synopsis is “Postharvest storage and quality management of citrus cv. Kinnow mandarin (Citrus nobilis Lour. x Citrus deliciosa Tenora.).

15. Muhammad Sohaib Aslam, Regd. No. 2004-ag-1680, a PhD student of Department of Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary Science has successfully defended his synopsis entitled “Molecular characterization, drug resistance pattern of M. bovis and M. tuberculosis and genetic susceptibility testing in animals and humans” on 07-02-2013.

16. Mr. Muhammad Yasin, Regd. No. 2003-ag-1660, a PhD student of the National Institute of Food Sci. & Technology has successfully defended his PhD thesis at university level on 07-02-2013. The title of his thesis is “Nutritional and Biochemical Evaluation of Vitamin K Enriched Dietary Sources”.

18. Mr. Sajjad Iqbal, Regd. TENDER NOTICE The sealed percentage rate/item rate tenders/quotation are hereby invited/from the approved contractors who have deposit of revised enlistment/renewal fee for the F/Y 2012-13, of UAF up to 3 days after the publication of this notice in the Campus News for the following works the time of opening of tender will be at 11:00 am. The earnest money 2% of bid value must accompany with the quotation otherwise the quotation will not be accepted.
