What are you doing? Ugh.Original Twitter – where we
were: The Age of the “Twidiots”
Drinking a few beers.
Going shopping and then taking a nap.
Using my teeth whitening product – buy one now!
Back then, many people disregarded Twitter as a
waste of time.
… but others saw the potential for collaboration,
communication and professional relationship
building …
What’s happening? YES!
What’s happening? Within career niches,
relevant life topics, your community …
What happens?Career and business
opportunities via networking …
The wonderful thing about social media is
that those professional relationships so often turn into collaborative
friendships in the process.
The Incredible Power of the RT, @mention and Twitter Lists
RT (“Re-Tweet”): Sharing the
information of someone you follow
while simultaneously promoting their work. Excellent
relationship builder.
#Hashtags#Hashtags for specific job
search, professional collaboration, recruiting, business and more.
#Hashtags are also ideal for finding others in your field, jobs you may be interested in, or new niche markets for your business.

Twitter ListsBeing listed on Twitter can be
similar to a letter of recommendation.
Lists elevate your professional social media presence and
lend credibility to your work.
Lists are also a great way to determine if you are “on
brand.”
Listing others shows your appreciation for the value they add, encourages your
followers to follow them, and gains their attention.
But wait, there’s more …
Your List-to-Follower Ratio
What these numbers mean: The higher your list number in relation to your followers, the more influence you have in your professional niches.
For example, Heather has a very high ratio of 1:10 – 1 in every 10 people following Heather list (recommends) her. William, while with significantly less followers, has an even higher influence due to his 1:9 ratio.
