I have a confession: I am obsessed with celebrities. I follow every celebrity gossip site on Twitter, I read People Magazine and US Weekly like it’s my job, and I’m not going to

lie, I can name every one of the Jolie-Pitts in age order and their country of origin. I have a problem and I’ve accepted it. So when the opportunity arose to plan a TWIN photo shoot my mind immediately drifted to the photography style I am most familiar with, paparazzi shots. To me, they are flawless because they catch people acting natural (although there is nothing natural about being followed by thirty or so men with cameras). They aren’t doing anything fascinating; they are just being normal people who happen to look great when they walk out the door. That is what I wanted to portray in this issue’s photo shoot, that you don’t have to have everything perfect to look perfect. Sometimes the unexpected moments can be just as great as a posed picture. Side note: Kara Harms did not know that Suri Cruise (my style icon) existed. This is a travesty.

The Fall/Winter 2012 runway is leading us into this season with bold lips and extreme eyeliner; just never at the same time. All the looks can be easily translated to the back to school season by keeping in mind that less is more. When rockin’ the blue liner or double

wings make sure to keep the rest of your makeup simple and clean. Sometimes the runway feels like it’s all about the clothes, but a look is never really complete without sporting some of the fall beauty trends as well!Marc Jacobs showed everyone how a perfect bold red lip can take any outfit to the next level this season. Pair your bold lips with simple makeup everywhere else. Skip the falsies, stick with neutrals and really draw that attention to your puckered pout. This year there are 3 favorites that really standout to accent simple makeup. For those of us that are a little less daring (or really just in a hurry to rush out the door) Maybelline Babylips has become a cult classic. Cherry Me delivers more of a scarlet tint to the lips but smells amazing and is ultra

moisturizing. It’s buildable enough to fit in with the bold lip trend but sheer enough for those of us that don’t have time to perfect that red lip. The Tarte Matte Lip Surgence provides an extremely high color payoff and is perfect when we don’t have time to reapply throughout the day since it refuses to budge. As for the most daring lipstick lovers out there, Nars Heat Wave is the perfect bold red orange

to make your lips cry out for attention. Rather than using a concealer to perfect the edges once your lipstick is applied use a concealer brush and

setting powder for a more matte finish.Blue liner can be easily transitioned from the runways to class and then amped up at night when you are ready to take the city by storm. Anna Sui actually completed her dramatic looks using CoverGirl Liquiline Blast Eyeliner, perfect for any college girl who is looking to

recreate the look on a budget! For a more subtle option try a simple sandy eye paired with a pop of blue liner on the bottom to keep from overwhelming your eyes in class. Sephora nano liner in Lagoon as well as the Urban Decay 24/7 glide on eye pencil in Electric Blue will work wonders! For those nights out try recreate the look from Anna Sui’s show by outlining the winged shape and filling it in with the CoverGirl Liquiline in Blue Boom. Skip the accent dots for a more wearable look and be sure to set the liner with

a pigment for even more staying power!To recreate the double winged look from BCBG and Altuzarra try and experiment with different textures and formulas. Wings are usually best to create with a liquid liner such

as the Nars eyeliner stylo or the Stila Sparkler Liner to add a little glam to the look. Gel eyeliners are generally one of the easier and more controllable choices as long as the product is correct. Using a favorite like MAC Fluidline is always a good idea for this daring new look but after searching high and low a favorite has also emerged for less than $2! Forever21 carriers a gel liner that easily holds its own against some of the pricier choices in color, ease of application and staying power. Rather than recreating past seasons trends of the smokier double wing try and keep the eyeshadows matte and simple as well as the lines of the double wing crisp and clean. The simple lines will draw attention to your eyes but keep you from looking over done when you are headed to class.

It used to be that a smooth shape, a gorgeous color and a shiny topcoat were enough to make a perfect manicure. Now, with the help of creative nail artists displaying their work on social media sites like Pinterest, nails aren’t impressive unless they have a point of interest or a fun design. As a nail polish lover, I’ve embraced this change, tested out some funky DIY manicures. Allow me to indulge: I have the artistic ability of a small child, so the fact that I took these nail art inspirations from Pinterest and actually executed them a) is pretty impressive and b) means it really wasn’t that difficult to begin with.

For each design, you’ll want to start with a perfectly prepped nail. Clip, or simply push back, cuticles and file your nails to a desired shape and length.

Pick out a collection of cohesive colors. For mine, I chose 7.

Begin by painting every nail a base color. I chose to use the ruffle design only on my ring fingers, an “accent nail.” Accent nails are a fun way to show your sense of style without your fingers attracting too much attention with such a busy pattern.

With your first color, use a dotting tool to place a row of dots across the bottom of your nail. If you don’t have a dotting tool, strip the cotton from the ends of Q-tips.

Continue layering colors, leaving time in between for the lacquer to dry slightly.

Finish with a nice, shiny top coat.

1. Start with a roll of Scotch tape and paint blocks of any and every color you want.

2. Next prep your nails and paint them, again, any color you want. I chose a

neutral so the shapes and colors would really pop.

3. Once your nails and the polish on the tape is dry, cut tape into desired shapes.

4. Stick the shapes sticky side down on your nails and cover with a clear top coat!

The Perfect French Manicure

1. Start with two thin layers of a neutral or clear base coat.2. Place reinforcement labels on the nail to make a stencil for the perfect french.3. Paint two layers the tip color. I love making this classic nail more modern with neon tips. 4. Remove the labels before the paint dries, so the paint doesn’t peel off with the label.5. Finish with a top coat.

No, I’m not talking about getting sassy with your professor, but rather rocking an edgy lip color to class. Many of us love to wear a bold red or magenta lip for a fun night out, so why not have that same daring attitude when you hit the textbooks. With lip-tastic beauty trends and a wide array of lip colors igniting the runway there are many options. Before you embark on your cosmetic counter adventure think about what type of lip product you want. Do you love the intensity of a deeply pigmented lipstick or prefer the sheer shine of a glossy lip tint. My personal favorite is the recently trendy lip stain. With staying power to last all day they are a great option for busy

girls on the go. If you get frustrated with having to reapply lipstick or cannot stand that gust of wind that makes your hair stick to your glossy pout, give the lip stain a try. Many of the drugstore brands have a variety of lip product options in a rainbow of colors. When trying to decide what works best for you, stick to lower priced products so you aren’t throwing away tons of your money if that latest lip gloss purchase is just too sticky.

Once you figure out what type of product is your favorite you can begin to think about color. This is often a good time to hit up your local department store. The cosmetic

counter makeup artists can help your find what colors work best with your skin tone. Do not be afraid to ask them to apply some to your lips to see how it truly looks on your face because we all know that hand swatches don’t always do a color justice. With the help of a makeup artist or maybe just your own trained eye you should be able to find some shades that suit your complexion.

With that purchased product in hand, you are now wondering how to go about creating the whole look. If you are wearing an intense shade for day be sure to tone down your eye makeup. Try a light champagne shadow with a little eyeliner paired with the cherry red, poppy pink, or trendy orange color

of your choice. If you are sporting a brown smoky eye for the day then go for a tinted lip balm. Have fun with your look. Don’t be afraid to play around, but do be weary of wearing a mega form-fitting outfit with your favorite heels and a bright red lip to class. Your professor may question how you are paying your way through college. Just make sure to tone down at least one element of your look if you are planning on wearing it in the broad daylight. If you are going for the bold lip, swap your going-out heels for a pair of cute flats or your tight bandage skirt for a pair of skinny jeans. Just make sure that whatever you choose to wear with your pretty pout, always pair it with confidence.

Known by its users as one of the best procrastinating techniques since Facebook stalking, “pinning” has taken social media by storm since it launched in 2010 and already has more than 11 million users . The concept behind the phenomenon is a 21st century version of magazine clipping, which allows you to organize images according to themes or “boards.” Many users see Pinterest as a way to explore the latest fashions, but it’s also a great resource to share

crafts, recipes, and even travel destinations. Once you get “invited” by a current user, you can start creating themed boards and exploring what other “pinners” have found interesting by simply browsing the latest pins or by searching for specific categories.Like any smart social media site, Pinterest allows you to connect via Facebook and Twitter accounts which lets you to see what pins your friends have found interesting. Much like a Facebook

News Feed, you can “follow” your friends’ boards as well as boards belonging to well-known bloggers or brands. This way, you can see what trends certain style mavens are raving about, and copy looks to your own boards for future shopping trips or even your dream closet! For those of you trendsetters (and I know many TWIN readers are), you can also upload pictures of your own genius style inspirations and watch them spread like wildfire. Note: this is

one of the few remaining uses for “the selfie pic!” Another option is stealing images directly from your favorite website or blog, and pinning them to your own boards. The best part? The image retains the URL source so you can share with others where you found it, and

maybe even return to that website later to purchase something you’ve been saving up for! One of the many reasons Pinterest has become so incredibly addicting (besides sharing hilarious e-cards) is that there are so many variations of pins and

boards, plus the trending images change every second to reflect the latest and greatest ideas on the web. Whether you’re new to Pinterest or have hundreds of pins already, I’ve found some fantastic people and brands to make sure you’re following.

Whether going to class or heading to the gym, modern day active wear has taken on a multitasking mission to keep you looking fabulous throughout your day. Fashion-forward ladies, you no longer have to fear dressing like your male counterparts at the gym as colorful, fitted, fun fitness apparel has been filling up stores around the country. Clothing fit for your favorite yoga class or a casual run can now fit into your full-time schedule. These disguised fashions are a great way to stay comfortable while looking pulled together and it ultimately gives you no excuse to skip going to the gym as you pass it on your way home from class. As health and fitness has become a trendy topic of conversation, many women are beginning to notice the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle and they want clothes that look as great as they feel. Staying in shape is an important part of many peoples’ lives and proper clothing is essential. Not that anyone needs to spend their entire paycheck on an outfit to wear to spin class, but if that same outfit is so cute

that it can also be worn for a study sesh at the local coffee shop then you are getting way more bang for your buck. Women are realizing this versatility of workout apparel

and are willing to pay a bit more for quality, comfort and aesthetically appealing pieces. Many companies, including Athleta and Lululemon Athletica have capitalized on this increased demand for fashionable fitness wear. Women have grown so in love with the flexibility and now stylish nature of active wear that they are willing to pay nearly one hundred dollars for a pair of yoga pants: an item that was once considered strictly for getting sweaty at the gym. Most of these lines also offer apparel for “an active lifestyle,” such as easy dresses to throw on after yoga class

or for running errands on the weekends. This sounds like awfully smart fashion, right? Well it gets even better. Smart, sweat-wicking fibers are specially developed to keep you cool and dry all day and many tops come with built-in sports bras, ranging from a simple shelf bra to full support that allows you to eliminate the bulk of a bra underneath your top. This is great because we all know that when it comes to clothing for your work out,

less is more. Apparel like this definitely outsmarts the classic, cotton t-shirt and shorts at the gym. Closets far and wide better make room for the cleverest of clothes, for what is there not to love about

for students, eager to pursue a career in the fashion industry, to have direct access to recruiters and professionals in the field. The fair consists of a professional panel, luncheon, and career fair. The professional panel of speakers will be answering student questions on topic related to networking, interviewing, resumes, obtaining jobs and internships, and what it’s really like to work in the fashion industry. The luncheon is a time for student to introduce themselves to recruiters and professionals, make a strong first impression, and ask any questions directly. Finally, the career fair is a chance for students to speak with their dream companies, inquire about job opportunities, and exchange contact information and materials with employers. The entire exhibition revolves around a love for fashion and an ambitious drive to excel in the industry.

As gorgeous as a full fur coat is, it’s not ex-actly practical to walk to class in. Smaller fur pieces such as vests, mufflers and earmuffs keep you trendy, but won’t overwhelm your ensemble.

I love the look of mixing these two trends and keeping it street wear appropriate with a snazzy sneaker and laid back tshirt.

A single leather piece keeps your look edgy without making you look like you rode a Harley Davidson to reach your destination.
