We thank our newest Bulletin Advertiser of the Week for their support and ask you to support them in kind . . .
LAURENZA’S PERFORMANCE & CLASSICS Would you like to advertise on our bulletin? Then, please call the Parish Office.
You're Invited to a celebration at the Holy Door of Mercy
at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Rochester….September 2: 6:30 p.m. Mass for First Friday, followed by Adoration of the Blessed
Sacrament and individual Confessions until 8 p.m. Pope Francis has declared that passing through the Holy Door of Mercy, locat-
ed in our Diocese at the inside center entrance of the Cathedral,
will offer the possibility of obtaining a Plenary Indulgence, a re-mission of the temporal punishment due to sins, by participating
in the Sacraments of Confession and Holy Eucharist, praying for the Holy Father's personal intentions, and praying the Profession
of Faith (the Creed).
We now have a Facebook page and we’d like to encourage you to check it out for items of interest and updates in our parish. The site is located here: www.facebook.com/stpeterparishny/?fref=ts
DAY OF PRAYER & PEACE IN OUR COMMUNITIES, SEPT. 9, 2016—Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, president of the USCCB, has asked all dioceses in the United States to take part in a Day of Prayer and Peace in Our Communities on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, the Feast of Saint Peter Claver. Continuing his request for daily prayers for the victims of violence and their loved ones and for peace in our world, our nation and our communities. Bishop Matano requests that our parishes also take part in this special Sept. 9 Day of Prayer.
WHAT COMES AFTER THE YEAR OF MERCY
A PRESENTATION BY FR. JEFFREY TUNNICLIFF AT ST. MICHAEL’S CHURCH, NEWARK, NY
We began our Jubilee Year of Mercy last year on December 8th, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. The
Jubilee Year of Mercy will end in November on the Solemnity of
Christ the King but the need for mercy in the world will not end. In this presentation, Fr. Jeff will explain the reason for
the Jubilee Year, basic principles of mercy, and what we can do to make God’s mercy known in the world, now and forever.
Join us on WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 at 7:00 PM in St. Michael’s Church Hall in Newark, NY. Light refresh-ments will be provided.

WOMEN OF ST. DOMINIC RUMMAGE SALE
SEPTEMBER 29—OCTOBER 1
Lots of clothing items are needed to make this sale a
success! As you begin sorting your summer clothing to pack away
and start getting out your fall and winter apparel to wear, please keep in mind our Rummage Sale. Any clean, wearable clothing
items that are in good repair can be donated. YOU MAY DROP OFF ANY CLOTHING ITEMS THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO
DONATE IN THE EAST (first door on your left) STORAGE
ROOM OF ST. DOMINIC PARISH CENTER, (NOT the St. Pauly Building). NO BOOKS OR HOUSEHOLD ITEMS PLEASE!
Reduce, reuse, recycle! Some thoughts on plastics.
Many plastics can be recycled but end up in our waste stream! Plastics are made from non renewable oil! They break down VERY
slowly when exposed to light. Scientists estimate that it can take between 500- 1,000 years to break down a plastic…...In the Unit-
ed States, 60,000 plastic bags are used every 5 seconds; 400,000 plastic bottles are used every minute! In Ithaca, about 800 plas-tic bags are returned to Wegman's every hour, and this is a small fraction of the bags given out!......Are you using reusable bags for
groceries? Do you take along a reusable bag when you shop?
When you go to the farmers market?.....Your plastic waste will still be in the landfill when you are no longer here!.....Information tak-
en from Getting Our Green Back Tompkins County www.get your greenback.org

GREETINGS FROM LAURA GLEESON
September is a time for new beginnings for many of us, whether it is a new school year for our children, or as in my case, as your new Faith Formation/Youth Ministry Coordinator. I am a New Yorker: from my family’s hometown of Yorktown Heights in Northern Westchester County for over fifty years and the eldest of five, to my Alma Mater St. Lawrence University in the North Country, to Wayne County as a homeowner since 2009. I have one beautiful daughter, one ener-getic grandson, a dog and three cats. I am an educator with a Masters of Arts in Teaching and a certified teacher of secondary science and special education. My journey in this ministry of catechesis began in the Archdiocese of New York as a catechist for over 20 years and more recently as Director of Faith Formation at Peace of Christ Parish in Rochester. I am so grateful to be joining the staff and faith community of Saint Peter and I am looking forward to getting to know our
families. Blessings and prayers, Laura M. Gleeson
