Election of Chairman and Vice-Chairmen of the Conference
The Conference elected His Excellency Costas Petrides, Minister for Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment of Cyprus as Chairman of the 28th Conference Session.
On the recommendation of the Nominations Committee, the Conference elected the following three Vice-Chairmen:

Presentation of the Edouard Saouma Award for 1994-95
The Award was presented to the lnstituto de lnvestigaciones Agropecuarias, (INIA, Chile), the All-India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health (India) and the Horticulture Crops Division, Ministry of Agriculture and the National Horticultural Research Station (Kenya) which shared the Award.

The Director-General and Mrs Jacques Diouf are pleased to invite all delegates and their spouses to a Welcome Drink on Monday 23 Octoher 1995 from 18.30 to 20.00 hours in the FAQ Restaurant on the 8th Floor of Building B.
Adoption of' the Report of' 109th Council Session
The 109th Session of the Council will meet to conclude the adoption of its Report at 19.00 hours today Saturday 21 Octoher in the Red Room.
Limited Space in the Plenary Hall
Due to the limited space available on the main floor of Plenary, where only three persons can be seated for each delegation, those delegates who cannot find room in the main area are kindly . requested to proceed to the Green Room where the proceedings from the Plenary will be relayed on closed-circuit television.
Election of Council Members
Nomination forms for Member Nations wishing to be elected to the Council are appended to document C 95/11. All forms should be completed and s igned by the delegate of the country standing for election to the Council and hy two nominating delegations, whil:h need not necessarily be from the same region as the candidate.
Such forms should be submitted to Room 8.202, Office of the Secretary-General of the Conference, by 12.00 hours today Saturday 21 October at the latest.
In accordance with Rule XXII-1 O(g) GRO" ... Candidates who are unsuccessful in the election to fill the vacancy or vacancies occurring in the first calendar year shall he incl uded among the candidates for election to the vacancy or vacancies occurring at the end of the second calendar year, except where they voluntari ly withdraw."

Membership of the Programme and Finance Committees
Nomination forms for Member Nations wishing to be members of the Programme Committee or Finance Committee are appended to document CL 110/2.
Such forms should be completed, signed and submitted to Room B.202, Office of the SecretaryGeneral of the Conference and Council, hy 12.00 hours on Monday 23 October 1995 at the latest.
Audience with His Holiness Pope John Paul II
On the occasion of the 28th Session of the Conference, His Holiness Pope John Paul II has granted a special Audience which will take place in the "Palazzo Apostolico", Vatican City, on Monday 23 October 1995 at 12.00 hours.
The invitation is extended to Heads and Members of Delegation and their spouses.
Those delegates who did not collect their Invitation Cards at the moment of Registration can do so at the Office of Protocol , Room A-132 , today, Saturday 21 October 1995 from 14.00 to 16.00 hours.
A special bus service will be organized to and from Vatican City, leaving FAQ (in front of Building A) at 11.00 hours and returning immediately after the Audience. Only those in possession of an Invitation Card will have access to this service, and to the "Palazzo Apostolico".
Written Statements hy Delegations
. Delegates intending to make statements from a prepared text, and who wish to help ensure that the impact of their words is equally strong in all languages, are requested to read at a reasonable speed and to hand in 6 copies of the texts as soon as possible in advance to Room A.127 where it will be distributed to the Interpreters and Verbatim Reporters. Such a precaution will also help minimize errors, especially when quoting figures and proper names.
In order to assist heads of delegation in planning their appointments for Monday 23 October, the order of speakers foreseen, subject to final confirmation, is as follows:

Bank Facilities for Delegates
The "Banca Commerciale Italiana" (BCI) has reserved a special window for the exclusive use of Delegates and Observers attending the Conference. This service will operate at the "Official Transactions" counter in Front of BCI Offices on the Ground Floor of Building B from Mondays to Fridays (08.30 - 14.00 hours and 14.45 - 16.00 hours).
Telephone, Telefax and Electronic Mail Facilities for Delegates
Telephones for internal or Rome calls are located in the Polish lounge and at the entrance to Building A as well as in the corridors on the first and third floors of Building A. Before making Rome calls, dial "O" and await the external dial tone.

Incoming telephone calls for delegates are received by the telephone receptionists in Room A.235bis. Every effort will be made to locate any delegates receiving incoming calls. However, should this not possible, a message will be taken and left at the Documents Desk. Delegates expecting incoming calls should advise the telephone receptionist (Ext. 56916/56917) where then can be found. ·
Outgoing long-distance calls may be hooked through the telephone receptionist in Room A.235bis. Telefax facilities are available in Room A.235bis. Apart from the actual cost of the telephone call to transmit the message a Service Charge of lire 3.300 per page will be levied.
Electonic mail: an Internet electronic mail service is available for Conference delegates in front of the Documents desk, Building A. 1st floor. Assistance will be available from 09 .00 hours until the closure of the Conference meetings. The Internet address for delegates wishing to receive mail is: "[email protected]". As this is a single account incoming messages should shown the name of the delegate addressed at the heginning of the text, i.e. Att: <delegate name>. Messages received will be distributed through the Documents Desk.
Travel Facilities for Delegates
/ The FAO Travel Agency, "Summertime" on the ground floor of Building D (Room D.070), has reserved a special desk for the exclusive use of Delegates and Observers attending the Conference. This Service will be available from Mondays to Fridays (08.30 - 12.45 hours and 14.00 - 17.00 hours) during the Conference.
Medical Emeq~encies
First-aid services will be availahle during the Conference hours in Room A. 121 on the first floor of Building A (Extensions 57005/57008).
