T’was the Week Before Christmas
A story by Mr. Warren
December 2012
I hope you and your family have a great Holiday Season! I’ll look forward to seeing you in 2013!-Mr. Warren
1
T’was the week before Christmas when all through the school, all the children were busy,
obeying each rule!
The stockings were hung in the hallway with care.
In hopes that Saint Nicholas would leave
gifts in there.
2
The children were nestled all snug in their seats,
With visions of Christmas time, candy and treats.
3
With Noah at his table, close to the
map, Ava looked ready for
a long winter’s nap.
4
Away to the doorway I flew
like a flash, bumped into Raghav and
spilled his Warren Cash.
When out in the hall, there arose such a clatter,I sprang from
my desk to see what was the
matter.
5
The kids were curious, and wanted to
know,“Who’s at our door?” Justin asked, “Is it time to go?”When, what to my wondering eyes should
appear? But my kids all standing with a
smile and a cheer.
6
Next came a knock and Aiyana
answered it quick.In came her
mother with mail from Saint Nick.
She opened a letter and started a
game. Then I whistled and shouted and called
them by name:“Now, Kasey !
Now, Kyra, Now, Aarna
and Carsyn !
7
Come, Katelyn ! Come, Layla ! Come, Phoebe and Kadin !To the front of the class, get ready for the hall! Now I say, now I say, now I say ALL!”
8
As I looked at the children, I held the clue high, Then I asked for a reader to give it a try.
Christine read, “Here’s a fun puzzle for you. To figure it out, you must read
every clue.”
9
And then in a minute we all had a grin, so we went to the
library. And went right in.Ms. Kerr was there,
checking out a book.Kavish asked, “Do you have something
for us? Will you please take a look?”
She found another letter that Santa
had put, on a shelf in the
library close to her foot. Parth raised his hand to read the clue back,
It spoke of a place where you might
eat a snack.
10
This clue was all wrinkled but sounded
quite merry. We went to the lunch room, to find our next
query. The lunch room was empty, nobody was
there. David added, “We
must find that clue! Does anyone care?
We searched the cafeteria from ceiling to floor,
Finley found the clue, hidden by the
door.
It was my daughter, who found the next
clue on the shelf,
Alaina read it carefully all by herself.
11
It sent us where you go when
you’re hurt or get sick.
“I know,” said Haily, “To the nurse’s office! Let’s get there
quick!”
12
A wink of my eye and a nod of my
head, “To Mrs.
Cassell’s office!” I thoughtfully said. We spoke not a word but went straight to her
door,Caleb noticed a bag on the floor. Down the front
hallway,Our class walked
in a hurry,like tiny little
mice when they run in a scurry. I held the goodie
bag over my back.
Once in our classroom, We
emptied the sack.
13
With the gift exchange finished and the party all
done,I dismissed my students
‘cause the break had begun.
I said as they board buses and walked out of sight,
