OUR LIBRARY IS RECOGNISED AS A GREAT EXAMPLE

Students have very good amenities here to read and research and study.

Our Library space is being recommended by both the National Library and Hydestor as an example for other schools on how to create functional, engaging and innovative spaces.

Congratulations to Mrs Cindy Johnston, Director of Library Services, Miss Kylie Smith, Librarian, Miss Jenna Morris and Mrs Tracey Anderson-King, Library Assistants.

We are really looking forward to continuing to develop our Library spaces and be at the forefront of modern school library spaces.

Senior exams finished yesterday, and students should reflect on their preparation for the exams and how they felt about their performance in the exam room. It is important that our senior students make good use of the feedback they will get from the marking of these exams, and do their best to improve their revision process ahead of the external exams in November.

StudyIt forums for NCEA English, Maths and Science will reopen on 21 September to support Year 11-13 students preparing for end of year external exams. The online learning platform provides moderated forums to discuss achievement standards and general study and exam advice for NCEA English, Maths and Science from other students and facilitators.

Senior students have been advised that applications for school-awarded scholarships are now open and application forms are available at the Student Office. These awards include the Jerkovich Trust Award, Paul Gough Financial Scholarship, Rosehill College University Study Scholarship, Rosehill College National Youth Drama Scholarship and The Cathy Gilmour Memorial Scholarship close on Friday 25 September. The criteria and application forms for these scholarships are available on the Student Hub, and applications close on Friday 25 September.

Next week students vote for their Student Trustee who will be a member of the Board of Trustees for the next 12 months. This is a position that is voted for by the students only, with no input from the staff or the Board of Trustees. Students are encouraged to consider their vote carefully as the elected student is their representative.

He gets to know his students really well and often will help students if they are having difficulty in a subject at lunch times. He also often brings in food and puts on breakfast for his class. Unfortunately with the government's announcement on Monday, all our winter sports have now finished. It has been disappointing to see the winter season end like this. A huge thank you to our coaches, managers, supporters and students for endeavoring to make the most of the season. Mrs Morling and I look forward to seeing our students, coaches, managers and supporters return for the winter season next year. We have opened sign ups for our Junior summer competitions. Please come to the Sports Office to express your interest. If any parents/caregivers are interested in coaching or managing one of the below teams please contact Mrs Morling, [email protected]

Congratulations to Paris Boyce-Bacon who has been selected to take part in the Auckland Medical School summer programme for Neurological studies. Only one student is chosen each year to join this programme. Paris will be working alongside current medical school students undertaking research on the brain.
