The construction of the P607-billion Clark Green City formally kicked off on April 11, 2016 after Presi-dent Aquino led the ground breaking rites of the pro-ject that is expected to be bigger than Bonifacio Global City.

The Clark Green City, a project initiated by the Bases Conversation and Development Authority (BCDA) , involves the de-velopment of a 9,450-hectare proposed business hub located inside the Clark Special Economic

Zone. Clark Green City was chosen by TUP as the site of its new innovative training center, the TUP CINDEP (Center for Indus-trial Development and Pro-ductivity) that would spe-cialize in industrial and technology skills develop-ment. In a Memorandum of Agreement that was for-mally entered into by TUP and BCDA on January 18, 2016, BCDA allocated 20 hectares within Clark Green City for the development of the said TUP training cen-ter.

Following the signing of the MOA, TUP is expected to work on a detailed development plan of the structure of TUP CINDEP aligned with its industry partners.

According to BCDA, the establishment of TUP CIN-DEP is expected to comple-ment the development of Clark Green City by provid-ing the necessary human resource support to indus-tries within the city and around the region.

To all my dear colleagues and friends,

I took the helm on April 14, 2014 thus today marks the culmination of my second year as President of this University. This time seems like a great time to reflect on what we’ve

accomplished, the journey we’ve taken to get to where we are and the plans we have for a bright future. As the dawn of my third year starts to unfold, I look forward to thank many individuals who contrib-uted in so many ways to the Univer-sity’s progress.

When I started, I learned about the many things the University did exceedingly well that must be pre-served, but I also identified aspects where we could do better, and where we needed to grow, therefore I instituted some reforms. At pre-sent, with the major priorities accom-plished or well on their way to being realized, it is time for the University to focus intently on achieving its strategic goals, thus earn a great reputation to our students, partner agencies and other stakeholders.

at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia, Pasay City; while the Graduate Programs’ commencement exercise was held on April 6, 2016 at the Manila Hotel.

This year’s theme was “TUP @ 114: One Vision, One Identity, One Commu-nity in Continuing its Jour-ney to Higher Grounds.”

A total of 3,157 candi-dates for graduation were confirmed during the suc-cessful 111th Commence-ment Exercises of the Technological University of the Philippines-Manila. The Pre-Baccalaureate and Bac-ca laureate Programs graduation ceremonies were held on April 4, 2016

In the three separate graduation ceremonies, all the candidates were con-ferred by the TUP Presi-dent, Dr. Adora S. Pili.

Invited guest speakers were, Engr. Robert O. Dizon, Executive Director, Metals Industry Research and Development Center for the Pre-Baccalaureate

TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES

April 14, 2015 - April 14, 2016

“Continuing

Journey to Higher Grounds”

Last April 14, 2016, Dr. Adora S. Pili celebrated her second year anni-versary as President of TUP. It is therefore significant that some of her major achievements on that period be published and made known to the community and other stakeholders. Thus, the Publication Team of the Integrated Research and Training Center came up with an 88-page digest in book format of some of her noteworthy accomplish-ments based on the Operational Plan of TUP and the reports of ac-complishment submitted by the different sectors of the University. On this regard, here is the message of the President published on the first page of the book:

Our two years can be summa-rized in a few words: in the face of major challenges, we made signifi-cant progress. I thank you for your continued commitment and all that you do to deliver on our purpose. Obviously, there is ample evidence that we are moving forward on the course we set two years ago to transform our University, some of which are underscored in this book that contains the highlights of my second year in Office.

Let us continue what we have started, and join hands as we all move forward, onward and upward to higher grounds.

Very truly yours,

Dr. Adora S. Pili
