Description of TuntoID™ technologyThe Sensor measurement is modulated on top of an RFID Unique ID by using tolerances of communication spec EPC gen 2 / ISO 18000-63 for devices operating in the UHF range 860 MHz to 960 MHz. The modulation uses the tolerances of the backscatter link frequency.

How the new Sensor RFID innovation works APPENDIX no 1
• Adding the sensor behind the RFID chip and using it to change the frequencies of backscattered signal gives an additional communication level on top of standard RFID
• A good oscillator also provides better backscatter signal → more distance
• Scarce power is not used for A/D transformation of signal or memory write operations. This gives better readout distance compared to current RFID sensor solutions

Standard compatibility
40kHz 100kHz 160kHz 200kHz 250kHz 300kHz 320kHz 400kHz
Variation of ±2.5% allowed during reading
Typically readers support only 256, 320 and 640 kHz modulation frequencies.
Variation of ±10% allowed during handshaking
APPENDIX no 2
The ISO 18000-6C (and EPC Gen2) standard defines 40 - 640kHz modulation frequency for tag to reader communication.
• However the base frequency tolerance before backscatter is much higher. Depending on selected link frequency the tolerance can be: ±15% in 640kHz, ±10% in 320kHz, ±10% in 256kHz, ±4% in 40kHz.
• This frequency has a tolerance of ±2.5% during backscatter.
