A face that is more beautifulThan all the roses that surround her

It is quietAll that’s heard is the softly sobbingSobbing of an elderly mother Saying farewell to her daughter

As she lay thereThere was a look of tranquilityOn her faceSilently a tear fell from a wrinkled cheekOnto a roseA rose that was cut in the prime of its bloomNever would this rose bloom againBut her battle was fought gallantly until the end

As I gazed at this beautiful but sad sceneMy thoughts drifted backI was picturing all those young facesFaces of young women that passed onYoung women in their primeYoung women who lost the battleAgainst the dreadful breast cancer

As I stood with my silent emotionThere was a lump in my throatI fell to my knees and whispered softly

MILAN (AFP) - Juventus di-rector general Beppe Morattahas moved to quash claims ofa conspiracy after the Serie Achampions' controversial winat Catania on Sunday.

"I agree that there was a ref-ereeing mistake yesterday butthere have been other mistakesin previous matches and lastyear Juve was on the receivingend," said Moratta.

"But we categorically rejectany idea of a conspiracy, thatJuve somehow affected the re-sult yesterday."

Arturo Vidal's 57th-minutewinner helped Juve extendtheir lead at the top of Serie Aand took their unbeaten streakto 48 matches but the Sicilianside had earlier scored a per-fectly good goal that waschalked off by the referee foroffside.

Furious Catania presidentAntonino Pulvirenti was or-dered off the bench and latercomplained that protests fromthe Juve bench had influencethe officials' decision to disal-low the goal.

Pictures of Bergessio's goalshowing he was not offsidewere splashed on the front ofboth Gazzetta dello Sport andCorriere dello Sport, Italy'sbiggest sports dailies.

The front pages also showedthat for his goal Vidal was off-side, reinforcing Catania's

claims that Juve had twicebeen given a helping hand byofficials.

On what was an extraordi-nary day for controversial ref-ereeing decisions, Lazio alsocomplained after they finishedtheir 2-0 defeat at Fiorentinawith nine men, having alsoseen a goal knocked off.

Serbian Adem Ljajic gaveLa Viola the lead in first halfinjury time and despite StefanoMauri levelling with a divingheader in the 59th minute hewas flagged offside despiteJuan Cuadrado appearing toplay him onside.

Lazio coach VladmirPetkovic praised Fiorentinabut felt aggrieved by the ref-eree's decision not to awardMauri's goal.

"The goal was clearly notoffside," he told Sky Italia. "Ialso failed to understand someof the cautions (yellow cards)we had, but overall we shouldhave done better."

The incidents have raisedquestions over the standardand professionalism of referee-ing in Italy, prompting a reac-tion from the Italian OlympicCommittee (CONI) presidentGianni Petrucci.

"The referees are workinghard and mistakes sometimeshappen," said Petrucci, whopraised Petkovic's reaction asan example of fair play.
