I studied Environmental Studies with a focus on Urban Sustainability at DePaul University. For the last four years, I have worked at the Chicago Botanic Garden as a Horticultural Specialist in Plant Information Service. In addition to the Garden, I am the Manager for the Glenview Farmers’ Market at the Historic Wagner Farm. My talk is going to focus on Farmers’ Markets and will be in discussion format with audience participation. I look forward to seeing everyone there!

Nancy has a knack for coaxing beautiful flowers and delicious fruits and vegetables from the soil in her Naperville yard. Growing up in a nature-loving family in a wooded area in Peoria, she developed a love of horticulture the first time she planted pumpkins as a child.

Since moving to Naperville 15 years ago,

Carroll has transformed her corner lot into

a lush, colorful garden that causes

passers-by to stop in admiration.

Thousands of flowers, including tulips,

irises, roses, lilies, daffodils and allium,

take turns blooming from March through

President's Message Our holiday party is scheduled for December 4, 2018 at the Back Yard Grill in Highland Park. In the past, our friend and past president, Gerry Palmer was instrumental in soliciting gifts and gift cards for our raffle prizes. Last year we were not a 501(c)(3) organization so contributions to our club were not deductible to the donor. This year we have attained the 501(c)(3) status, thanks to Heddi, so it is easy to overcome this objection. I am attaching the solicitation letter, and a copy of our charity classification for your reference. I will also pass these out at the next meeting on October 2, 2018. Scott Byron’s talk last month on Ravine garden design was outstanding. Scott was instrumental in the design, and implementation of many of the gardens at CBG. You can gain a tremendous amount of knowledge by attending our meetings. The speakers are well seasoned professionals, and quite interesting. Try a meeting, no charge or obligation.
