CAPA Groups This year we have made the decision to allocate a time within our weekly timetable for CAPA groups for Years 3-6 students. Our performance groups (StarStruck dance and drama, choir) will have dedicated time to rehearse, leading towards the development of higher level performance skills. planned maintenance scope of works for this financial year is currently being quoted. If this is approved, there will be some significant work happening in our school over the coming months.

Expressions of Interest Year 7 2021 Forms were given to our Year 6 students last week regarding high school next year. Parents need to complete these forms and return to the office by Friday March 20. Our local high school provides a high quality education and the majority of our students attend this school. Remember that out of zone criteria apply to high schools as it does to primary schools. Please familiarise yourself with the requirements of the high school that you wish your child to attend well in advance. Our Year 6 teachers work closely with the high schools to share information and support a successful transition.

National Day of Action Against Bullying/Harmony Day On Friday the staff had planned a ‘Doing Things Together Day’ to acknowledge the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Harmony Day. Instead of the students working in peer support groups and visiting different classes, we have opted to continue with the activities but the students will remain with their class group in their classroom. Thank you to Michelle Hammond and Rebecca Wilson, who volunteered to be parent representative to review our current anti-bullying procedures and the current research to assist in the development of new school procedures. These will be posted on our school website later this week.

Student Activities and Achievements Congratulations to Lara who has been successful making it to state swimming and Zac has been selected as a reserve for the regional basketball team. A number of our students have expressed interest in attending zone trials for various other sports – we wish them well.

Have a great week everyone and take care.

Michelle Unterrheiner Principal

Our Tree of Values program is in full swing and the students are enjoying earning ‘smiley awards’ during the school day for demonstrating behaviours that support our school values. Last week we highlighted the value of care demonstrated in making new friends. This value encourages students to include others in class and play that they may not normally play with in order to make new friends. This week we continue our focus on care and how we are mindful of others. This is demonstrated by looking out for each other in class and play. This value also supports our school rule ‘we care’. We will explore practical ways the students can show support to their peers – listening to their ideas, learning together, being a good listener, using positive language in play and how a smile can be the beginning of new friendships. Thank you for your ongoing support of our values program and we would appreciate you having a talk to your child about encouraging others at home and school. Mrs Bailey and Mrs Bell

Thank you to everyone who attended our AGM and first P&C meeting for the year. It was so lovely to see so many new, fresh faces that are so eager and motivated to make a difference within the school community. As everyone was made aware there are so many different ways you can help out without having to attend the P&C meeting, by joining a subcommittee or volunteering to help with different fundraising or various school events. All help big or small is always welcome. Let me introduce you to the committees for this year.

It is hard to believe we are up to week 8 in Term 1 already.

We hope that everyone has received the Eggcellent Meal Deal notes, this meal deal is on Thursday March 26. On the menu we have a hot chicken and gravy roll, with a Licks pink lemonade iceblock for $6.50. The iceblocks in the meal deal are an everyday item and made with 99% real fruit juice. Our meal deals are order only and all orders must be in the lunch order box by 9.15am, Thursday March 19. No late orders will be accepted. With all of our meal deals we have cut off dates and times due to ordering. No regular canteen menu will be available on this day.

Please remind your children to hand in their lunch orders on time, we have noticed quite a few children especially on Fridays handing in late orders. Late orders puts pressure on canteen volunteers and may result in orders not being filled. Thank you for your cooperation.

On our new menu we have changed the way nuggets are ordered. Nuggets are now available in the following quantities:

4 nuggets: $3; 6 nuggets: $4; and 8 nuggets: $5.

The Term 2 roster will go home over the next few weeks. If you are able to volunteer please fill out the canteen volunteer note in the office.

This week - Eggcellent Meal Deal orders are due Thursday, March 19. Orders must be in the lunch order box by 9.15am. No late orders will be accepted.

Leila Finch and the canteen committee.
