Topic: Lecture and Tour of the Master Gardens
Be sure to wear comfortable shoes or sneakers for the tour. There is ample parking. Here is the link if

Hanna Pettus from the NC Cooperative Extension will enlighten us about the Cooperative’s Master
gardens. A tour of the demo garden will follow. There are benches for seating along the way.
Hanna serves as the Urban Horticulture Extension Agent. She is responsible for the Extension
Master Gardener Volunteer program as well as consumer and commercial horticulture.
Cooperative Extension is a partnership that began here in 1914 when county, state and federal
governments agreed that by joining together they could provide all citizens with access to the wealth
of knowledge generated by public universities. Today that partnership includes county governments
striving to solve local problems, a national network of land-grant universities including NC State and
N.C. A&T State Universities, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The Cooperative Extension offers

NEWCOMERS SPRING LUNCHEON AND TEA

Lunch will include a chicken salad plate with fresh roasted chicken, sliced grapes,
toasted pecans, artisan greens, sliced fresh fruit, seasonal berries, and Acapulco
dressing. Banana nut bread finger sandwiches with pineapple cream cheese will also
be available along with a selection of mini tartes for dessert. Available beverages will
be coffee, iced and hot tea, and fruit water. Vegetarian meal (summer salad) will be
available upon request.
New officers for the 2017-2018 year will be inducted. And, be sure to wear your
prettiest spring hat because there will be a hat contest! You don’t want to miss the

Each member is notified of the "details" (i.e., film, theatre) the Friday just prior to our scheduled date. If no email is received by that time, it means the movie has been canceled or postponed. Selected movies will vary from comedy, romance and mysteries to science fiction and an occasional animated picture. After the film, there is the option to join the group for an early dinner at one of many restaurants chosen during the year.

Our next meeting is May 2, at Kerri Buted’s house, at 2 PM, to plan details of our May project (providing a hot meal to the residents of the Servant Center in Greensboro). Sharing Corner
Our Sharing Corner Board Member Grace Vitola had a busy month
in March. She sent Thinking of You cards to Darla Robenolt and to Mary
Mumford. Melody Glick’s husband underwent back surgery and received
a Get Well greeting from the Club. Among our membership, Brenda Hill
also had a back surgery and Sandy Moss endured foot surgery. They also
received Get Well messages, and we hope everyone is recovering nicely.
