The Roald Dahl website has some excellent tips about how to make a costume out of everyday household materials and great ideas for how you can celebrate at home. This year we will be having a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory theme and we would like to invite the children to dress up as a character from the book. We look forward to seeing some Oompa Loompas, Willy Wonkas, Charlie Buckets and maybe even some Violet Beauregardes! Of course, your child may have another favourite Roald Dahl character that they would like to dress up as and we welcome these too! On the day, we will have a special visit from a theatre group who will be performing a selection of songs from the musical ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ and this will provide a wonderful opportunity to really bring the story alive. We will be asking for a £1 donation and the money that we raise will enable the charity to continue helping seriously ill children around the UK. This donation can be brought in on the day and given to your child’s class teacher.

6th September 2017

Dear Parents & Carers,

We have a fantabulous announcement that John Ball School will be taking part in the Dahlicious Dress Up Day on Wednesday 13th September 2017 to celebrate the wonderful world of Roald Dahl and to help raise money for the Roald Dahl Children’s Charity.

We would like to remind you that if you have any good quality books that you would be willing to donate to the school, please bring them in and drop them off inside the main entrance of the school (underneath the butterfly art installation). Our JustGiving website is open for any further donations which we will continue to use to replenish our school library.

Yours sincerely,

The English team
