Dance Eisteddfod

In week 4 on Friday the 20th May, Ensemble A and Ensemble B will be performing at the Shoalhaven Eisteddfod. Both teams have been working hard all year to prepare for the Eisteddfod and we wish them the best of luck. The dance teams are entered in section 171 which will commence at approximately 10:00am.

Student Council Message

Star Wars Day

Last Wednesday on the 4th May Milton Public School celebrated Star Wars Day. This event was organised by the Student Council to raise money for our new bubblers. Thank you to all the students and teachers that brought in cupcakes for this occasion. In total we raised $1310 on the day. All of the costumes were AMAZING! There were Darth Vaders, Princes Leias, Reys, Luke Sky Walkers, Droids, Storm Troopers and even a few Yodas. It was a fantastic day for all of us. We would like to thank everyone for their generous donations and for purchasing our delicious cupcakes. If you would like to see photos from the day please check out the school Facebook page. What is NAPLAN?

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual national assessment for all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. All students in these year levels are expected to participate in tests in reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. All government and non-government education authorities have contributed to the development of NAPLAN materials. In 2016, NAPLAN tests will be held on 10-12 May. KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENTS

Milton Public School is now taking enrolments for 2017 Kindergarten students. If you have a child that will be enrolled for Kindergarten in 2017 or you know of someone who does, please complete the Expression of Interest form available from Pre-schools or go to milton-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au The form is also included in this week’s Parent News

Touch Football

Kye, Lochi, Lachlan, Taj, Arun, Maddison and Ella were all selected to participate in the South Coast Touch Football trials. Taj and Ella both made the possible and probables trial and congratulations to Ky, Lochi and Lachlan who were selected in the South Coast team to participate in the state carnival in Tamworth.

Stewart House

Each year 1,800 public school children come to Stewart House from many parts of NSW. During their stay, children are provided with optometric, dental and medical treatment as well as emotional support. This is balanced with health and educational programs and out of school activities to boost their self-esteem and to promote a healthier lifestyle. Stewart House needs your support to ensure we can continue to provide important services to children. Students at Milton Public School are again supporting the Stewart House Day donation drive. Envelopes have been sent home with students last week. Please return envelopes by Friday 20th May 2016. Thank you all for supporting such a great initiative

Sport Change

For the next two terms, Years 5 and 6 will be holding their weekly sport afternoon on Fridays. Stage 3 assemblies will now take place before lunch at 12.20pm also on Fridays.

Messages to Students

We understand things change at the last minute sometimes, however there has been an increase in the number of parents phoning the office with arrangements for student pick-ups. Arrangements for pick-up should be organized prior to school starting to reduce class disruption.

Enrolment Application packages will be forwarded to parents within a week of the “Expression of Interest” form being received at the school

Interviews will be conducted from 22nd August to 2nd September 2016. Please phone to organise a date and time
