  • TagEditor Terminology Verification TagEditor Terminology Verifier is one of the Plug-in Verifiers in TagEditor, along with Generic Tag Verifier and QA Checker. It will be a regular checking requirement for some end-client work. Terminology verification is run in the same way as tag verification, hitting F8 in TagEditor with the file you want to verify open. Before you can check the terminology in a file, you need to activate the Terminology Verification by selecting "SDL Trados Terminology Verifier" from the Plug-ins list, and setting the required settings for the Terminology Verifier in Properties > Settings (with the Terminology Verifier line marked grey). Note that the Terminology Verifier can be run at the same time as tag verification, the results will all display in the same window at the bottom of the TagEditor screen. If you wish to do this, select both the tag verifier you require (S-Tag for files deriving from FrameMaker, and Generic for all other files) and the Terminology Verifier.

Before you can set the Terminology Verifier settings, you must have a Multiterm iX or 7 termbase loaded in Multiterm, please see separate Multiterm instructions on how to do this. To select the settings for Terminology verification: Select the Termbase to use for the verification on the TTX document: 1) Open the [Tools] menu in Tag Editor 2) Select [Plug-ins] 3) Make sure that [Verifiers] and the [SDL TRADOS Terminology Verifier] are enabled. 4) Select the [Properties] for the [SDL TRADOS Terminology Verifier]. 5) Select [Settings] 6) In the tab Termbase, select the glossary under Termbase location. You can do this by clicking on Browse and selecting the green [(+)] button to add the termbase. Under Language selection please select the correct source and target languages. It is very

  • important to select the correct target language, otherwise the Terminology Verification will not report any terminology errors (and no error message either).

    7) In the Tab Settings below, please use the settings as indicated with an arrow. The Terminology Verification will be run on the whole translation (including 100% matches). Adjust where needed for your project.

  • 8) In the tab Verification Criteria' below, please use the settings below.

    9) In order to create a log file you would need to tick below option. The log file can only be saved or viewed after you ran the Terminology Verification.

    10) Click OK once all settings are selected and run the Terminology Verifier by clicking on the 'Verify' button in Tag Editor (the same one as you otherwise use to check the tags with). 11) After the verification, you would need to go to the Term Verification Options, tab Log file again and click 'Save', and browse to the location where you would like to store the results. 12) Please leave the TTX files, log results and .XML files (these are created during verification) in the same folders in order to be able to jump from the log file to the TTX files. You can either see the verification results in Tag Editor, or you can use the log files. The log file contains an option (Open in Tag Editor) at the bottom of each suspected segment, which allows you to jump to the segment in Tag Editor. Most segments will not be errors, but are not recognized by the tool due to for example conjugations or differences between plural and singular.
